SoxFanForever
I think the real sad thing is that Frank has been with the sox his whole career and gets paid millions of dollars and can't lay a bunt down. The guy is a professional athlete, maybe he should learn a little about sacrifice and helping the team. Not his HoF bid.

The guy is a professional athlete, maybe he should learn a little about sacrifice and helping the team. Not his HoF bid. Players with 400+ homeruns aren't asked to bunt. When's the last time you saw Ordonez bunt? Lee tried to bunt, and couldn't do it, and JM still had him try. Its bad managing. Don't try to have your players do something they are not capable of doing. I don't see Barry Bonds ever lay one down. To criticize Thomas for not bunting is ludicruous. How many bunts do you think Babe Ruth put down a year? Going the other way, I can see you criticize Frank for not doing that. He did that the first 7 years of his career. If this story is true, it really paints an uglier picture of JM the manager. He basically is admitting he had no control.

CubKilla
Obviously none of us were there so no one knows for sure exactly what was said. But if JM knew the guy a bit and they were just talking in the yard casually, I could see him being honest about what went on. That said (and I expect Ncorgbl to argue with me and call this guy a dumb asshole soon) I have heard many things about Frank over the years from many different types of sources, including several that were part of the locker room and what was just posted basically jives with everything I have heard. I said long ago that FT is selfish and not a "team guy", yet everyone wants to argue with me. It looked like he had made some strides this year (at least what the public eye could see), but perhaps that is not the case. I have said it before and will say it again, I truly believe the Sox will be a better team the day Frank leaves, regardless of his production. Rex Ive been a Frank basher for years. I think its kinda obvious that Frank is a selfish piece of s*** and ive been more than vocal about that...... I've bashed FT when FT deserves to be bashed. Too bad so many Sox fans react with utter revulsion when another Sox fan criticizes Thomas..... like one just committed heresy. For Sox fans to think one individual on a team is above criticism because of what he accomplished in his past is so "Cubbish."
