I like when DH can be used in this manner instead of a permanent one dimensional guy.  Main reason I'm not keen on Vaughn.

Boo, boo this man! That was Ozzie's biggest downfall IMO.

I'm sorry but if Vaughn can hit .270 with 30 to 40 homers I'm taking him over the ability to be flexible.

Could you imagine being told in February both that you would be mostly okay about McCann DHing and batting cleanup but the team would be sitting almost at .500

I mostly hate it because both catchers are playing.  But McCann has earned the starting spot, something I definitely couldn't say in spring training.

If Vaughn is one of the best hitters, and we need a hitter, then take him and he can learn to play a different position if need be.

People already want Jimenez to DH.  Some people Abreu to DH.  When Collins comes up we will want he or McCann to DH.  Can only have so many of these type guys.  A pure DH like Vaughn just complicates the situation.  Get the best pitcher available is how I would go.

I wouldn't consider DH'ing as "playing" in the sense that McCann would be too tired to catch, if needed.  On the other hand, he could collide on the basepaths with Castillo and they could both get hurt ^_^

Vaughn is a very good defensive 1B. I really don't know how it got in some posters' heads that he's a DH.

That's what I thought.  I really really want Vaughn but that's for another thread.

Rey needs to stay with the changeup today, it allows his fastball to play in the zone and still get whiffs

If Castillo gets hurt and has to exit, Sox lose the DH.  Thats my qualm.  Unless they have a mystery 3rd catcher hidden somewhere on the 25 man...

It's May.  That lineup is 2x as good as what we are putting out there.
