Well fortunately GMs like AJ Preller exist. He traded a freshly drafted, top prospect Trea Turner for Wil Myers, who batted .222 the season before.

He also traded the decaying corpse of a former ace for Tatis Jr.

Right.

But the point was Wil Myers drew Trea Turner after batting .222

Shelby Miller trade happened.

James Shields happened.

Players with options are assets, despite what you think.

Tilson and Engel never had the perceived value of any of those guys.

Luis Robert

People will say it's the wrong baseball move but I think it would be a smart marketing move.  I don't necessarily agree with those who believe you can't learn at the major league level.  Isn't that where we have the best coaches.  Who cares if he makes some rookie mistakes.  At least there would be a reason to watch the game.

Tilson batting .333 in 110 plate appreances in Charlotte.  I hope now is this kids time if he gets the call.  I will be looking forward to watching him.

Yeah...you won’t enjoy it. People need to realize Charlotte’s field is a hitters paradise now

It would be interesting to see his home/away splits in Charlotte. If he can hit .280 in the bigs and steal 40, I will take it.

Can we credit the Engel demotion to Soxtalk? It cant be a coincidence that he was sent down the same day that the Engel vs Tilson thread appeared. Maybe Hahn's kid was on here and relayed some valuable insights to his old man lol.

If Hahns kid is on this site and is willing to give his father some valuable insights, here's another one. Have his father resign immediately.

Interesting if Engel was sent down. That should be it for his career. Baseball can be cruel. Mr. Engel can sure field, but can't hit a lick. Another big league hopeful bites the dust (I realize nothing was expected of him as a 19th round pick).

Is Shields pitching this year? With our staff as lousy as it is, I wouldn't mind seeing him give it a shot. Hell if we listed all the horrible fifth starters we've had in the Robin and Ricky eras we'd think Shields was Joe Horlen/Gary Peters/LaMarr Hoyt/Jack McDowell/Alex Fernandez/Mark Buehrle incarnated

When Eloy returns;

Eloy Jiminez - LF

Luis Robert - CF

Ryan Cordell - RF

Yoan Moncada - 3B

Tim Anderson- SS

Leury Garcia - 2B

Jose Abreu - 1B

Alonso - DH

James McCann - C

--------

There aren't many holes in that line-up.

I also think Eloy will get in a little bit better shape and improve in the outfield.

Remember that eye-popping catch he made in the Futures game?

Alonso is a gigantic hole

If we had Robert and Eloy in the lineup and picked up two free agent starters there's no reason we couldn't win this crap division.

The Minnesota Twins (who just a few short seasons ago lost around 100 games) say HELLO!

Seriously  dude?

Let's say Tilson worked hard this offseason and improved very much. If he is hitting .333 in Charlotte and continues to get better there is no reason why he cant hit .280. Thats a 60 point drop from Charlotte. You act as if I had him at .320 at the MLB level. He can do that as well,  I dont put limits on players, but just give predictions.
