How about he sits out the rest of the season to ensure the Sox don't have him on the team next year earning $9 million. ?

No matter how you want to slice it, this version of Lucas is a significant improvement vs. the worst starter in baseball last year. He looks like he belongs in a major league rotation. His ceiling still remains to be seen.

Heads22
Any good reason for Lucas to come back out though? I have to imagine he has a one baserunner limit.

His ceiling still remains to be seen. I'm not complaining. I still have hopes for a solid rotation of Kopech, Cease, Lopez, Giolito, and Dunning. Since they obviously won't sign a top free agent, I hope they keep taking best bat available in the draft. Give them to anyone who may have a future on this team, even if it is a small one. I'd rather see Palka at this point over Alonso. GermanSoxFan
Lucas was in control the whole game. Even when he gave up the leadoff double he executed his pitches and didn‘t try to overthrow. He was gassed an inning before, taking him out is the right decision, even if Lucas wanted to keep going.

JUSTgottaBELIEVE
3.50 FIP, 3.68 xFIP for the season now. That’s certainly middle of the rotation numbers if he can maintain it for the entire season.

Moan4Yoan
He was throwing 93-96. That is night and day from when he loses his delivery and falls off and throws low 90's.
