Seby can't hit the heat.

Most of the farmhands they bring up with a few noted exceptions seem to do nothing more than perpetuate the "mired in medocrity" mantra coined by its own GM.

The 5-25 record of Covey was a shocking stat.

It is very daunting seeing how good this Twins team is doing. I feel they are leaps and bounds above where we are, and their FO has put them in a place to be contenders for years.

Not really I mean they have some good young players but are getting major contributions from 1 year free agents like Martin Perez, Nelson Cruz, Jonathon Schoop and 2 years for Marwin Gonzalez also big contribution from waivers with CJ Cron also a 1 year contract.

Complementary veteran 1-2 years rentals.  Wow, what a concept (Rick Hahn).

Doing exactly what the player he replaced did all season so he technically fits in well

If anything, he is a possible platoon to play vs LHP. Contact issues have always been an issue with him. Anyone that ever thought the Collins/Seby platoon was going to be the future at catcher was fooling themselves

The thing is potential 30 homer guys like Cron and Cruz were out there for the taking. Schoop, Perez and Cron were all 28 and under . Sox wasted all off season on the Machado derby. The only position player they picked up who was youngish was McCann and they let go of Avi who was also still youngish. I don't think the decision to non tender him was bad but not competing with TB to offer him an incentive laden deal could've been tried.

I really had high hopes for this series after the showing in Houston.

If this team is contending in 2020, the evidence is fleeting at best.

It is self-evident the Reinsdorf cabal is not going to loft them into contention with outside vetted free agent difference makers.

This will have to be an inside-org effort.

He won in 2005 with basically avg ballplayers having career years and without any serious financial outlays.

This next time it might be with better caliber players but still under budget and no threat to his bottom line.

The Bulls and Sox long for affluent sportsmen in the owner's suites.

Reinsdorf is the worst possible type of owner, from a fan's standpoint.  His absolute #1 goal is "return on investment for his shareholders".  Nothing else matters.  Winning would be nice, but not mandatory.

The Sox need an owner like Mark Cuban---a billionaire who would own a team for the sole purpose of winning a championship.

The Twins have a very good young core and a good farm system with two guys ranked in the top 15.

It's a good time to be a Twins fan. Their major league team is kicking ass and their farm is stacked as well.
