Is Tim Anderson destined for a corner OF spot?

He has his issues defensively (and one could also say from a "baseball-smarts" standpoint). 16 errors now. In some ways he's like Alexei Ramirez a guy who felt his athletic ability would make up for everything. Hint: It doesn't at the big league level and like Ramirez his concentration seems to disappear at times which is not good.

His hitting of course is making up for some of this but you'd think after three plus seasons now, he'd have a better handle on things.

he's very much like alexei ramirez, agreed.

after 3+ years, he is what he is defensively, but his range/speed is above average which might suit him better in the OF

assuming he can catch the ball

Improvements at the plate plus a very team friendly contract probably means he is our SS going forward. That said, I can't see us being a WS threat with so many mental and physical mistakes at such a crucial position. Not counting the minor league help plus Vaughn, the only positional keepers who I am super comfortable with are Moncada and McCann. Even Eloy needs to work some things out.

why would he not be a candidate as a CF at the very worst.

Don't know. Has he ever played CF? It doesn't always hold that because a player is good at a MI position he can transition to CF. See Dee Gordon. Also, would think Lou Bob is CF of future.

Hard to guess what the long-term trajectory is for Tim at SS. His career has been characterized by long streaks of clean play defensively followed by sloppy runs of play like the beginning of this season. Perhaps he'll finish this season like he finished last year, with a long stretch of play with relatively few errors and several very good plays. Most guys aren't "streaky" fielders so it's hard to know what the real Tim is.
