The Bones
I don't know if anyone on here follows boxing. But, now that I'm at school I get Showtime and the Holyfield-Toney fight was on so I thought I'd give it a try. I'd never really watched a boxing match before, but it was pretty interesting. Toney ended up winning in the 9th round when he knocked down Holyfield and Holyfield's corner threw in the towel. Could possible be it for Evander, he's 41 yrs. old now. Cool thing was that Toney showed respect for Evander after the fight. I didn't know boxers could be gracious winners. I just knew what I'd heard about boxers like Tyson. Overall, I enjoyed a change of pace tonight after a tough day of sports for me. Best thing is I wasn't really cheering for anyone, so I couldn't be let down. I just enjoyed watching the fight for entertainment.
The Critic
Holyfield was a shell of his former self in that fight. If you're interested, you should dig around for a few of his older fights. There was a time when he used to be virtually unbeatable. You could pound on him and pound on him, and he'd never fall. Unfortunately, he's now paying the price, since he can barely speak anymore. Yeah, seeing Evander in the condition that he's in these days is really sad. He should retire before he ends up like Muhammad Ali. And you are right, Holyfield was a stud in his prime, and his older fights are definitely worth checking out. I'd recommend his fights against Riddick Bowe from the early 1990's. They were wars (I think there were 3 of them), and one of them was the fight where that guy with the parachute landed on the ring apron and got the s*** beat out of himself by ringside security.
