LDF
from the trib: Rocky Biddle (3-4) allowed one earned run in five innings to notch the victory, making him the early favorite to be the No. 5 starter in next year's rotation. Much of the credit for the Sox's resurgence revolves around the pitching, which has improved significantly since Don Cooper took over for Nardi Contreras as pitching coach in late July. The White Sox had a 4.79 ERA under Contreras, averaging 5.6 strikeouts per game and limiting opposing hitters to a .269 average. Heading into Wednesday's game, the staff had compiled a 4.28 ERA under Cooper, averaging 6.7 strikeouts per game and holding the opposition to a .248 average. The makeup of the staff basically has been the same, with the obvious exception of Todd Ritchie, who left the rotation with shoulder inflammation Aug. 5 and has pitched only 22/3 innings of relief since. Since Cooper's promotion July 22, Dan Wright, Jon Garland, Keith Foulke, Kelly Wunsch, Antonio Osuna, Damaso Marte and Mark Buehrle all have seen decreases in their ERAs. i wonder if the stat would've been different if ritchie would've been taken out earlier for nardi? Sorry LDF, but you got me confused on this sentence. Do you mean if Ritchie would have been taken out earlier or if Nardi would have gotten the boot sooner? Personally, I think if Cooper would have been here at the beginning of the year, Ritchie would never have had shoulder problems...

Chisoxfn
Cooper is a great pitching coach. He stepped away from being all mechanicl and worked on their mental approach which is helping this guys a ton. 90% of the game is mental and now our pitchers are finally starting to realize it. Mathew
The strandest stat I heard was that the White Sox lead the League in come from behind wins 32 or something. Even though it seems to me we always s*** the bed at the end of the game. I think Anaheim has 29 so I don't get how we sucked so much ass this year. OfficerKarkovice
One thing that stuck out to me when Cooper was talking to Hawk and DJ after today's game he was saying how when he got here he tried to get the guys away from pitching towards the hitters weaknesses and working on pitching with their (the pitchers) strengths. Now there's a novel idea...Nardi is a dumbass.

Thats weird, for some reason I thought we didn't have that many come from behind wins. I too thought the Angels had the most. I guess it just depends on what they call a come from behind win.
