ESPN loves to play fact or fiction on Sportscenter, so why not play it right here on Soxtalk.

I'm gonna make some statements and I'd like anyone with an opinion to reply with fact or fiction and please say WHY you chose fact or fiction. Maybe we'll dig this thread up at the beginning of next season to see who was best at predicting the future.

Fact: Magglio Ordonez will start the 2004 season with the Chicago White Sox.

We're gonna stick with him at least one more year.

Fact: Bartolo Colon will be a member of the Yankees in 2004.

If the Yanks want anyone, they can get anyone.

Fact: Jeremy Reed will make the White Sox out of spring training next season.

We dont have that many extra outfielders and I think he'll impress.

Fiction: Ozzie Guillen will be the next manager of the Chicago White Sox.

Cito.

Fiction: Jerry Manuel will be employed (in some capacity) by a major league ballclub next season.

No one's that dumb.

Fact: Joe Borchard should no longer be considered a prospect.

Hes had a long time to impress and has done nothing for the last couple of seasons.

Fact: Robbie Alomar will be a member of the 2004 White Sox.

I dont see us going out and getting Castillo so he'll stick around.

Fiction: The White Sox will be the 2004 AL Central Champions.

Unless they sign some faster guys and get a solid bullpen, it's gonna be another long season.

Fact: Who is going to take on $14 million for Magglio.

Fact: Yanks will beat out Red Sox for Bartolo's services.

Fiction: Reed will come up a month into the season, he has to beat Willie and Aaron to start, and one of them to be on bench. I am not sure if he is ready. If he has a good spring training, he'll be our starter (assuming Carl isn't at CF).

Fact: Seems Ozzie is main person ta hear about now.

Fact: JM will be somewhere, look at O'Leary and the Vikings. Someone won't be able to resist.

Fiction: I think Borchard has one more year being considered a prospect.

Fact: We won't get Castillo, and we have no better options.

Fiction: We will be the best team on paper, but they will rip our hearts out again. I hope I am wrong.

Fact or Fiction: Magglio Ordonez will start the 2004 season with the Chicago White Sox.

Fact, Magglio is the White Sox franchise player, Kenny even mentioned his name as a grinder in the press conference, he's not going anywhere, for now.

Fact or Fiction: Bartolo Colon will be a member of the Yankees in 2004.

Fact, sorry to say it but Bartolo's taking too long to make a decision and the Yankees, being the Yankees, are the favorites to pick him up with Roger leaving and the rest of their staff not getting any younger.

Fact or Fiction: Jeremy Reed will make the White Sox out of spring training next season.

Fiction, Jeremy will make the White Sox out of spring training in 2005, not 2004. He still needs some extended time in AAA before he's ready.

Fact or Fiction: Ozzie Guillen will be the next manager of the Chicago White Sox.

Fiction, I think that it's looking more and more like Cito Gaston is gonna be the manager, but the Sox will bring Ozzie over as the third base coach.

Fact or Fiction: Jerry Manuel will be employed (in some capacity) by a major league ballclub next season.

Fact, Jerry loves baseball, and he will be a coach somewhere next year. He is a good guy and he will get his chance again someday. I wish him the best of luck.

Fact or Fiction: Joe Borchard should no longer be considered a prospect.

Fiction, there's a reason this guy was highly touted for the Sox for so long. Hope he can finally figure it out. Too much talent not to.

Fact or Fiction: Robbie Alomar will be a member of the 2004 White Sox.

Fiction. Hello Luis Castillo. Okay, that one is more from my heart. I really want Castillo here.

Fact or Fiction: The White Sox will be the 2004 AL Central Champions.

Fact, with the Twins losing some players to free agency, the Indians still a year or two away from being a contender, and the Tigers being the Tigers, the only team in the division that can contend will be the Royals. Tony Pena's magic will wear off after a year and they will be considered a fluke. The Sox WILL win the weakest division in baseball.

Fact or Fiction: Magglio Ordonez will start the 2004 season with the Chicago White Sox.

FACT: Trading Ordonez will only alienate Sox fans and hurt their chances next season. I say he stays, then walks after 2004.

Fact or Fiction: Bartolo Colon will be a member of the Yankees in 2004.

FACT: They want him, they'll get him. Case closed.

Fact or Fiction: Jeremy Reed will make the White Sox out of spring training next season.

FICTION: He'll start the season in AAA, then be called up in July.

Fact or Fiction: Ozzie Guillen will be the next manager of the Chicago White Sox.

FICTION: I'm sticking with my darkhorse candidate, Wally Backman.

Fact or Fiction: Jerry Manuel will be employed (in some capacity) by a major league ballclub next season.

FACT: Head of Concessions for the Detroit Tigers.

Fact or Fiction: Joe Borchard should no longer be considered a prospect.

FICTION: After a good spring in 2004, will make the big league club.

Fact or Fiction: Robbie Alomar will be a member of the 2004 White Sox.

FACT: 2-year deal for Robbie, who will finish his career on the Southside.

Fact or Fiction: The White Sox will be the 2004 AL Central Champions.

FICTION: I like the Twins again in 2004 unless we make a few good moves, as much as it pains me to say so. I hope I'm wrong.

Magglio Ordonez will start the 2004 season with the Chicago White Sox. Fiction: Maggs will be traded UNLESS the FT does not come back and/or the Sox can move Konerko. They need to move salary and Maggs may be the best option.

Bartolo Colon will be a member of the Yankees in 2004.

Fiction: Not sure if he will be with the Sox, but I am guessing he won't end up with the Yankees.

Jeremy Reed will make the White Sox out of spring training next season.

Fiction: This could happen if he tears it up in ST and the Sox move Maggs, but they will not keep him on the roster to be a 4th OF. He starts or goes to AAA.

Ozzie Guillen will be the next manager of the Chicago White Sox.

Fiction: I'm probably wrong on this one, but playing a hunch.

Jerry Manuel will be employed (in some capacity) by a major league ballclub next season.

Fact: IF he wants to be.

Joe Borchard should no longer be considered a prospect.

Fiction: Joe B is still a prospect, just no longer a top prospect.

Robbie Alomar will be a member of the 2004 White Sox.

Fiction: Flipped a coin.

The White Sox will be the 2004 AL Central Champions.

Fact: I see some new life in this team, along with some new faces.

Fiction: Maggs will not be a member of the White Sox next year, I think the Sox will end up moving him over Lee since he costs more moolah.

Fact: King George has always shown interest in him, Steinbrenner wants him badly.

Fiction: Jeremy Reed will be considered but will start the season in AAA and will be called up in early or late June.

Fiction: At least I hope so, we need someone that has experience winning as a manager, not winning as a third base coach.

Fiction: I don't see Manuel working in a big league organization NEXT YEAR. However in a couple of years I expect him to return.

Fiction: Borchard has struggled at the AAA level, but I won't write him off yet. This season will be a big inidication if he will ever turn out to be what we expect him to be.

Fact: Robbie and Sandy both want to stay with eachother in Chicago, plus Alomar should come cheaply compared to the other top notch free agent 2nd baseman.

Fiction: If Bartolo leaves than KW may just start the rebuilding phase all over again, I hope I'm wrong but that's the way I look at it.

Fiction - If you add the additions through contract increases and arbitration eligible players it doesn't add up to the estimated final payroll total. At least 1 big contract WILL be moved and I think Maggs is a good canidate. Investing about 25% of your payroll in 1 player isn't a good idea and as good as Maggs is he IS NOT worth 14M/yr.

Fact - With Clemens retiring and DWells not likely coming back GS will be looking for starting pitching and anything but the best is unacceptible.

Fiction - Unless Maggs/Lee are traded AND no outfielder is picked up in a trade/FA, than he might make the team. However, I think Rowand will start in CF and Reed will start in AAA, and be called up 2 or 3 months after the start of the season(assuming he is playing well).

Fiction - The Sox will get someone with managerial expereince. Cito would be my choice.

Fact - His overall record isn't that bad and he has a bunch of friends in the coaching ranks, and I am sure one of them will give him a job.

Fact - He has steadly gone down since his 1st full season in the minors. With his age, other propsects passing him, and his inability to make constant contact he is no longer a prospect in my book. That doesn't mean that he can not be a decent player in the majors.

Fiction - I think it is 50/50 right about now, but I dont think Alomar will take a big enough pay decrease and the Sox will need to find cheap solutions.

Fiction - It will be hard to make this team better with the salary currently tied up and too many holes. The Twins won't be as good next year with the lose of a couple of key players, but they will still be better then the Sox.

I don't envy KW this offseason.

Magglio Ordonez will start the 2004 season with the Chicago White Sox. Fiction: Maggs will be traded. Sox are looking to juggle the payroll. Easiest way to make room is to trade the guy who makes $14 million, especially when he is moving into his jump season.

Bartolo Colon will be a member of the Yankees in 2004.

Fiction: Hasn't signed yet. Would have if he was dead set on staying. He's the best pitcher available. Somebody will Cowboy Up some cash. I say it is the Yankees, because if they don't take him, the BoSox will.

Jeremy Reed will make the White Sox out of spring training next season.

Fiction: Rowand gets first crack to play center field. If he doesn't produce, Reed gets the call by June 1.

Ozzie Guillen will be the next manager of the Chicago White Sox.

Fact: The price is right, the same formula worked in KC and fans will be happy to see No. 13 return -- at least initially.

Jerry Manuel will be employed (in some capacity) by a major league ballclub next season.

Fiction: He'll sit a year before somebody gives him a chance to manager.

Joe Borchard should no longer be considered a prospect.

Fiction: For a $5.1 million bonus, he's a prospect as long as he's on the 40-man roster.

Robbie Alomar will be a member of the 2004 White Sox.

Fiction: Why not find out if Willie Harris or Aaron Miles can play -- especially at a reduced price.

The White Sox will be the 2004 AL Central Champions.

Fiction: Twins will remain the team to beat because next year they'll have Milton, Santana, Radke and Lohse in the rotation all season.
