cwsox
it would be so sweet for the Marlins to win their 2 games in Chicago this week - that Marlin pitcher Beckett was really awesome and the sam-me k called was the best part of the game, in the 4th

southsider2k5
Sad thing is this series is over. There is absolutely no way that the Marlins beat both Prior and Wood.

cwsox
Way. Just do it. And it certainly can happen. Beating both of them is not impossible, it is doable.

LowerCaseRepublican
Post game Beckett called Sosa ignorant. He was. The pitch got away from Beckett on accident and he had a hissy fit. Then he got frozen on the K. :fthecubs
cwsox
why are they playing the games then?
aboz56
Looks like Blalock's game winning HR at the Cell means something after all. Home field for the AL.

The Critic
If they can get past Jesus ( and I really think he looked more hittable last time out ), I can ABSOLUTELY see Kid BB grabbing the throat in game 7. Do I think it'll happen? Not really. Is the thought laughable? Not at all. Remember, the Fish play smallball, which is MUCH more reliable than the bangers. ( Note to KW on that comment, BTW... ) If it did happen, this would make the 84 chokejob look TAME by comparison! GO FISH!!!!!! One game at a time, Marlins!!! LowerCaseRepublican
The Cubs have a long flight ahead of them back to Chicago after getting 2 hit and having faced a CG SO from the Marlins. Meanwhile the Marlins are just oozing with confidence. They shut down the offense that has gotten ahead of them every game so far. It ain't over yet. SoxFanForever
Beckett was simply amazing today. And Sosa needs to sit his ass down and drink some rum. He should keep himself in check or someone might lose control of the ball and bonk him in the helmet again.

( Note to KW on that comment, BTW... ) If it did happen, this would make the 84 chokejob look TAME by comparison! GO FISH!!!!!! One game at a time, Marlins!!! I agree completely. If they can get past Prior then they have a fairly good shot to win the series. That is a huge if though. The Marlins haven't even announced their starter for game 6 yet. Personally I would go with Pavano, Penny has sucked in both of his postseason starts and is throwing instead of pitching.
southsider2k5
The only reason Prior gave up anything more than usual is because he had an 8 run lead and quit pitching to spots and started pitching to bats to get outs. The series will be over Tuesday night.
danman31
If the Cubs get by Prior, game 7 is very winable. Let's not forget Wood was in line for the loss when leaving game 3. If there is one team in the NL that I want to come back from a 3 game deficit, it's the Marlins. They have so much heart. They won't give up, esp. after today's performance. winninguglyin83
indeed. if they can beat prior, the pressure certainly shifts to the Team The Sox Beat Four of Six. Wood's sphincter will be so tight you won't be able to fit a laser beam up there. If the Fish can swim in Game Six, the Chicago media will flood the airwaves with stories about past Cubs' chokes. And, of course, how this would rate as the Biggest Choke of All. Actually, I'm looking forward to that.

The series will be over Tuesday night. I'm not talking about the runs he gave up. I'm saying that he seemed to be throwing a flat fastball. The Marlins didn't get the big hit, but it didn't seem to have the movement it has had. He was in trouble more than I've seen him this year, but they just couldn't get the big hit. Credit Prior for that, but the relatively straight FB gives me reason to think (hope?) that he's getting a bit of dead arm, and that it shows on Tuesday. The Critic
I wouldn't throw Penny - he sucks on the road. Which makes me question why the Fish didn't throw Redman in Game 2 at Chicago, and throw Penny at home in Game 3 where he'd have a better chance to be successful. That would have put Penny in position to throw a Game 7, and if you can't get up for Game 7 of the NLCS, no matter where it's played, then you should reconsider your competitiveness. NO!!MARY!!!
If the Cubs did choke, it would be one of the most delicious things to happen in the history of deliciousness. It would be more deliciouser than any delicious food I have ever had. That being said, I take the Cubs in six. No way the Fish beat Prior AND Wood. Messiah Prior will deliver the Cubs. Look for at least one dolt to write it that way in the Game 6 postgame wrapup, too.
