quickman
Ok, Can't prove this is true, I recently met a guy who works for the Sox. He does not work in the front office or the locker room. He claims to know many people, so who knows. He also claims to be on this board occasionally checking out posts. Ok here goes; He claims: KW is staying (despite NCORG's statements earlier this year) he also said KW is shopping Konerko right now. KW wants him gone. They will try to get a lead off hitter for him. Additionally he claims the SOX and Colon will come to an agreement. He claims Colon likes the city and wants to stay. He also said that Both Alomar (Robbie) and Valentin have claimed they will take a 50% paycut to stay, they just want multiple years instead of one year. Finally he claims that Ozzie Gullien is very popular with JR. Larussa is waiting to be the Yanks new Manager. Torre is out regardless. Torre will quit even if he wins the series. Wants to take some time off. Finally the Sox are pissed at Rowand right now. Apparently he was playing tackle football in the parking lot at the Bears game (Oakland game) and reinjured his shoulder again. I have no idea whether any of this is true. I do know he works for the Sox. That is true. As far as the rest of this, who knows. Could be hearsay and rumor, but what else do we have going right now. winninguglyin83
Rowand is a HUGE bears' fan, but you've got to hope he's smarter than THAT. KW might be down on PK, but he just signed him to a three-year 24 million deal that will make him tough to trade and what position is this leadoff hitter going to play? CF? We'll are dying for Sox news so we can quit hearing about the Cubs.
quickman
I thought about the same thing with Konerko, doesn't mean he is not trying. Leadoff could come from CF, 2b, shortstop depending if you resign alomar and or valentin. As far as rowand, I don't think he is that smart. The guy is a psycho, so that one I truly believe. Guest JimH
TQ, welcome back, you've been low profile lately. The Rowand thing doesn't surprise me and I don't doubt it. Why would anyone make something like that up? Who do you want as manager, we never talked about that ... ? Valentin and Alomar, i believe that. I don't think there's much of a market for Valentin ... maybe more so for Alomar but I think his huge paydays are over too. I wish they could upgrade at SS but IMO Alomar is still the best bet at 2B. That's IF this team plans on trying to win. KW ... that doesn't surprise me either, but in my book that's a wait and see.

CubKilla
The Rowand thing doesn't surprise me and I don't doubt it. Why would anyone make something like that up? Rowand was definitely at the Bears/Raiders game. He was wearing an Urlacher jersey and did an interview for the Chicago Sports Report (CSR) on FSN. If he re-injured his shoulder playing tackle football, he's a dumbf***. He looked fine during the CSR interview though.
FlaSoxxJim
I have a feeling the Rowand story is true as well, and it bothers me immensely that he didn't learn anything after the last accident. It's one thing to be a competitive person in nature, but the guy is playing with his own livelihood and has not done enough in his short career to have a right to be this cavalier. If he needs off-season competition, here's a crazy idea... how about winter ball? I assume he doesn't play winter if he was out west last winter with time to drive his bike off cliffs. And it's not like he can't work on his game. Of course if he did aggravate the shoulder he'll probably kill us again this year and be up and down for half the season. Aaron's off my sh*t list for now then... until I find out he actually did mess up the shoulder again :-)
greg775
Rowand isn't that stupid. No way. That one sounds like an urban legend. Don't believe that one, folks. Again nobody is that stupid.
Loaiza21
I'd take Alomar for 1/2 price, but I don't want Jose, unless he plans on hitting left handed full time.
Chisoxfn
Jose at half price still isn't good enough, now take him as a utility man and I wouldn't complain a ton, but with the FA crop of shortstops out there, there are quite a few better and younger options. As far as trading for a leadoff hitter, I think this means that Konerko is either going for a leadoff hitting prospect or is going for some leadoff hitter that is solid but has a decent size salary, probably one or two years left. That info seems real reasonable. Hopefully Arow is alright, if it happened. If it did happen, I'd think you'd see him get dealt. I don't see the Sox bringing in a new centerfielder unless he's named Kenny Lofton. Ie, Veteran stop gap so Reed/Borchard can play when ready. IMHO Jose isn't worth half of his price. Get a guy like Cristian Guzman in here. He's actually worth the money. CWSOX45

JDsDirtySox
I agree that we could use a change at SS, but unless we bring in Tejada, I do not see a better option out there than Jose. Free Agent Short Stops Miguel Tejada, Jose Valentin, Rey Sanchez, Rey Ordonez, Mike Bordick, Jose Hernandez, Royce Clayton, Tony Womack

KipWellsFan
What shortstops could we get if we are apparently shopping Konerko for a leadoff guy? Not many come to mind. I would love to have Orlando Cabrera but the Expos would not be at all interested in taking on Konerko's pay.
