BackDoorBreach
Wow that's an awful deal. In what universe is he worth 16+ million a year, and 3 years? Jesus

TheTruth05
Sox had Abreu where they needed him then guaranteed him 2 more years

ChiSoxFanMike
What does this mean for Vaughn?
Bob Sacamano
Damn. Would have prefered going year to year, 2 year with an option tops. As long as he knows he's mostly DHing after next year.
TheTruth05
Also does anyone think it's a possibility Vaughn is dangled to try and plug RF up?
TheFutureIsNear
$18M in 2021 is absolutely insane. Inexcusable really, no team would have offered this kind of contract.

I was going to ask this, but then I just figured Vaughn will still be the future 1B, with Abreu moving to DH. Or we could end up trading Vaughn. Dick Allen
I think this is crazy by the White Sox and I like Jose.

Bob Sacamano
One thing is for certain: Collins is expendable.

Abreu should DH, wouldn’t affect Vaughn playing 1B. Collins is now the 1 you have to wonder if it’s possible to get AB’s. But that would mean Collins shows he can be a backup C.

I don't think Collins would be enough to get you a possible long term RFer, but as a package it's possible.
