And honestly, fuck the Cubs so who cares if their owner pockets some profits. Not to prolong the luxury tax tangent much further, but,,,,for those interested in gaining some added perspective here is a link to a short 2019 article which quantifies that tax penalty and in so doing, may help some of us to place it in perspective. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/explaining-mlbs-luxury-tax-and-why-it-shouldnt-be-having-a-major-impact-on-free-agency/

ChiSox59
Obdel Herrera DFA'd. Quite a fall for that guy. With his contract, he'll definitely clear waivers and get released. Domestic violence charges are going to make it tough for other teams to give him a chance, but perhaps at the MLB minimum someone will roll the dic.e
caulfield12
Talking about Cubs’ Fest But the one to go to is the business operations panel. Crane Kenney has had the Saturday of this convention circled on his calendar for years, like a bride and her wedding day. It was going to be the crowning achievement of the Ricketts family era of his never-ending Cubs employment. It is, after all, the last big event before the launch of his TV network. The Cubs should be introducing their on-air talent, but there’s a fairly good chance that instead they’ll be left introducing their key advertisers. A panel featuring Peter Francis Geraci, the My Pillow guy, Howard Ankin, Jeff Vukovich and Jillian Michaels would be must-see, and Jillian can entertain the crowd by telling Rizzo he needs to lose some weight. “Fans can later reminisce with Cubs alumni Darwin Barney, Reed Johnson, Miguel Montero, Geovany Soto and Travis Wood during the Welcome Back panel, hosted by Ron Coomer.” And, we should take bets on which one of the panelists makes the first joke about Soto finally coming back to the Convention the year Illinois legalizes marijuana. “Cubs fans can vote on their favorite designs for the Wintrust Crosstown Series Cup, which will be redesigned and unveiled ahead of the start of the Cubs-White Sox series July 7-8. Post-Convention, the designs also will be available for fans to vote on online through the end of March.” https://theathletic.com/1530492/2020/01/13/cub-o-coffee-which-cubs-convention-panel-will-you-attend-and-will-kevin-rizzo-be-there/?source=dailyemail Edited January 15, 2020 by caulfield12

ChiSoxFanMike
At this point I’m convinced that Bruce either has vision or hand problems. It’s hard to make that many typos even on purpose.

It’s hard to make that many typos even on purpose. Some in the media used to deliberately spell what Latino players would say back in the 50’s and 60’s, using phonetic pronunciation to make them look bad. It even happened with Sosa. OR, he’s just a lousy typist on a mobile phone and doesn’t take time to correct it. Edited January 15, 2020 by caulfield12
Moan4Yoan
Here’s a nice reliever target to go after: Red Sox designated LHP Bobby Poyner for assignment. 27 year old lefty. Had some success in 2018 with Boston. Pretty good numbers in the minors. http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/profile.asp?ID=168479

He might be a better second lefty out of the bullpen than Fry.
