Nomar Mazara Speculation

He has had his moments offensively.  Obviously Texas is a hitter’s paradise, and 24 year olds who  were top 10 prospects usually don’t get moved unless something has really gone haywire. This guy could be what he is or maybe he breaks out. Depends on the price. Walker,Rutherford, someone like that the main piece with Fulmer of Flores If I were the GM, I would say done.

The return likely won’t be that much regardless but how does Mazara improve this team and help make them a contender?

We are hoping he breaks out after 4 seasons of similar performances.  This was the offseason in which the Sox were supposed to acquire some “sure thing” players since “the money will be spent.”

What is our payroll? Like 80 million? So our payroll would be around 100 million again? Lol

Even if they got Dallas and a RP we'd be like 10 million more than what we played with last year.

Mazara is projected a $5.7M for 2020. Not sure how you got $20M.

This is a dumb tweet. Of course he COULD be of interest. He probably IS of interest. It doesn't mean we would give up Walker, and it doesn't even mean Texas wants him.

If the tweet said, "Rangers asking for Steele Walker as part of a return for Mazara", then we'd have something to talk about.

How’s that Marcell Ozuna deal coming along??

Yea, how long ago was it that we were all soooo excited about the Ozuna rumor? Now we're talking about  Nomar Mazara? Really?

Once again.  We have buckets of money we can spend.  This route is a choice.   This is putting major league players in positions for short term rolls hoping for lightning in a bottle.

Going from -2 WAR to 1 WAR in RF is an upgrade, and the money spent for this season is tolerable.

Giving up anything of value, even guys we're down on, is the part that I say ugh to.

$5.7 and a player for Mazara
$10 million for Calhoun

Unless the player is nearly worthless doesn't everyone pick Calhoun in that case?

You would be banking on a guy isn’t what his as a 24 year old. No one wanted James McCann last year He broke out and was much older. Talent isn’t the problem with this guy. He may suck, but he also a chance he becomes really good, and the only way anyone will care about how much control they have with him would be if he plays well.

He is from the DR. I am surprised Frank Castillo isn’t all over this.

My last thoughts: there is a chance this works out very good for Sox. If the rays just traded for him we’d all be expecting a turnaround. But he went to the Sox...

Again, you have to just hope he finds massive power like Soler.

Not sure what we “get” with another cost controlled guy though.
