They probably have it their demented minds they’ll make a run at Mookie next year.  I mean, they refused to even take a token run at Cole & Strasburg, but I’m sure they’ll pump themselves up for a half-assed Betts pursuit.  Let’s just hope that a bunch of the 2021 free agents don’t sign extensions beforehand or we will really be in a fucking predicament.

This wait until next year to spend big stuff is a freaking joke.  The front office must be hoping they can delay the supposed spending until fans simply forget about it.

To keep positive thoughts in mind:

Projected 2020 lineup (ignore the order, I'm not putting too much thought into it)

SS - Tim Anderson
CF - Luis Robert
3B - Yoan Moncada
1B - Jose Abreu
LF - Eloy Jimenez
C  - Yasmani Grandal
DH - James McCann
RF - Nomar Mazara
2B - Nick Madrigal

I would still only put the o/u at 5.5 of that lineup having over a 100 wRC+

The issue is that we as Sox fans are forced to believe this is the big move...
A very MEH player

We were told the Machado money would be spent, it still has not been spent and now we’re gonna be spoon fed by the White Sox Talk guys Mookie to the White Sox in 2020

Jerry isn’t gonna spend the money it takes to put us over the top.

I have not read one single fan say or even accept this as a "big move."

Steele Walker is a better hitter right now than Mazara. We should have kept Walker and put him in RF.

For someone who likes basic stats, you should be salivating at the fact that Mazara's lowest batting average in the big leagues is .253 (Grandal's highest in his career is .247 not counting his sample sized '12 season).

Difference is Grandal can draw walks as he had 109 last season as a catcher.

I'm sure someone on the Rangers scout team feels like I do otherwise they wouldn't have traded for Walker straight up.

vs.

2019 (same order, cause whatever)

SS - Tim Anderson
CF - Engel/Cordell/Tilson
3B - Yoan Moncada
1B - Jose Abreu
LF - Eloy Jimenez
C - James McCann
DH - Yonder Alonso
RF - Ryan Cordell/Daniel Palka
2B - Yolmer Sanchez

Just had a question,  what if Madrigal isn't ready out of spring training and is delayed 2 or 3 months -- who's our second baseman? Leury? Mendick? FA?

Yes I know that. I just find it hilarious coming from you who usually sites batting average alot when evaluating players (as well as Ks and BBs)

You know me well young Skywalker! Yes I look at k to walk coupled with batting average and doubles and triples. Love Madrigal!!!  Mazara batting average not too impressive. Most importantly smart unselfish hitters, not HR or nothing guys.

Funny thing is he’s probably our 2nd best hitter against RHP behind Yoan

I’m not sure about that.  Here’s our roster’s wRC+ against RHP last year:

  • Moncada = 148
  • Anderson = 132
  • Jimenez = 120
  • Grandal = 114
  • Mazara = 110
  • Collins = 99
  • Abreu = 99

I would expect Collins & Abreu to both be better against RHP.  Honestly, wouldn’t be surprised if Mazara was the low man on the totem pole next year out of these seven.
