centerfieldsixers
i am seeking to understand 2 thoughts I have. 1. Can the White Sox (or any team for that matter) request medicals on a player if they are seeking a trade? Example Can the Sox ask the Red Sox for that information on David Price? I am not sure because I remmebr almost 20 years ago the Sirotka for Wells scenario. 2. With all these lesser quality pitchers that were available this year (Wacha, Porcello, Walker...etc) does the organization ask for Cooper's help and have him watch video on potential starters and see if he can help these guys? I am sure he has insight but with all the retreads or potential 2/3 how does a club review and see what guys to take. I am assuming money for these guys are all in the same ballpark so it becomes a pick and choose.
Look at Ray Ray Run
Medicals are exchanged following an agreed upon return. Frequently after reviewing medicals if there are red flags you did not see before, you will go back to the team and discuss additional compensation, or something, to offset the medicals. If you can't agree upon the additional compensation, the trade can be voided. See the recent Tommy Pham trade if you'd like an example. I don't know what the dynamic is now but I remember when we went out and got Edwin Jackson, Coop basically begged the FO to get him cuz he saw something in his delivery he could easily fix.
