MLB cheating scandal

Look at Ray Ray Run

Recommended Posts

Shit, if Buck Weaver and Shoeless Joe Jackson are still banned, WTF aren't the Houston players also banned for life? (Yes, I get the players union angle, but why aren't the players union also sticking up for players that may have been wrongly punished in the past?)

Otherwise, why aren't Weaver/Jackson made eligible for reinstatement, and thus, enshrinement in Cooperstown?

This is some high bullshit, IMO.

Do they play each other this year? AL Central is playing the NL West this year.

Yes, you're right. My bad. Probably for the best with things as heated as they are this season. The best we could hope for is a rematch in the world series. Now that would be interesting! I do think the Dodgers will be representing national league.

Would be awesome to see Bauer face them but I'm pretty sure AL West is facing NL East (haven't checked).

Anybody else looking forward to the first time the Dodgers and Astros face each other this season? Those should be some very interesting games with some of the things the Dodgers have been saying. Yankees vs. Astros should be another one.

at some point in MLB, someone is going to press charges against a pitcher for throwing at a batter. It meets all legal definitions of assault. I wonder if this could be the year.

Wow Correa and the Astros still won’t shut tf up. Endless digging. Unreal.

He's looking right in the camera and lying.

If they really want to give a sincere apology, send the trophy to Cooperstown where they can keep it in storage for a few decades, take down any signage regarding the 2017 Championship, donate the amount all of the playoff share money from 2017 to charity, and no future team sponsored celebrations of the 2017 season. If they want to keep their rings they won unfairly, they can do it, but nobody really thinks they earned it.

The players on the Astros aren't being punished by the new manager wants opposing players punished for throwing at the unpunished cheaters? Do I have that right?

No you missed not autocorrect error, otherwise you’re on track.

Gambling is still the biggest no no in the game. That's the difference.

Disclaimer: completely insane, impractical idea

The players from the 29 other teams could force additional punishment by announcing their intent to refuse to travel to Houston during the 2020 season. It's not a strike - you're allowed to forfeit games by not showing up. The Astros would hemorrhage money - 81 forfeited home game "victories" with zero attendance, angry season ticket holders/luxury suite buyers demanding refunds, an apoplectic RSN with nothing to televise and total loss of ad revenue. How many weeks would it take?

Eh, astros would definitely be fine with cheating their way to best record ever with no shame.

I like you, and I respect you. But given what Denny McLain did (for example), this view is kinda horseshit.

Weaver got suspended for knowing about the scam, but not reporting it; Jackson's involvement still isn't 100% clear.

Are we to believe that NONE of McLains team mates knew about his gambling and (allegedly) mob-related bookkeeping activity, but didn't report it? Or Pete Rose's team mates didn't know anything about his gambling? Sorry, but MLB hasn't been as hardcore on gambling as they purport to be.

Houston (and all their cheating players) did far worse with their cheating, full stop.

Manfred is talking at 3:30 central.

He had a 1 on 1 with Karl Ravech that has already aired on Sportscenter today and it was nothing special. Said it would've impossible to suspend players, taking away a trophy is pointless but everyone will remember this as "something wrong" regardless, the Astros' apology wasn't good enough but the players have done a good job since Crane spoke, etc
