Top 10 SP Prospects (RH)

Squirmin' for Yermin

Recommended Posts

I plan to create this thread every day as the new list is released from MLB Pipeline.

Today was the start with right handed starting pitchers

1. Casey Mize

2. Nate Pearson

3. Forrrest Whitley

4. MICHAEL KOPECH

5. Sixto Sanchez

6. Dustin May

7. Matt Manning

8. Luis Patino

9. Spencer Howard

10. Grayson Rodriguez

I am suprised Whitley is still ahead of Kopech after his bad bad year.  Also here's a hot take... Manning will be the better Tigers SP over Mize. I just don't absolutely LOVE Mize's repetoire for the majors.  I think he'll be good.. but not great.

I know Kopech has been recovering from TJS for 15 months, but he was a top 20 prospect before his injury and by  reports he's still topping out at 102 mph after surgery.

There's no reason why he still shouldn't be a top 20 prospect. He has more upside than Mize or Whitley.

Not sure he has more upside than mize. Mize has 4 plus pitches and control.

I'm not a big fan of Mize.. I think he will be a better Quintana type. Good pitcher but not great.  Kopech and Whitley can be great.  (Just using the names Jack used).  Mize is for sure the safest SP prospect in baseball though.

I would notch Kopech in at 3 on this list ahead of Whitley.  I'm not sure why Whitley is not only higher but a GRADE above Kopech after the year Whitley had.  I get Kopech is coming off TJ and he should be lowered due to that.  But how did Whitley not fall a little (like Kopech) after his terrible year.  I'd much rather have a year kopech had (out for injury) than the one Whitley had (just bad).
