I've read other stories where it will be a black woman. I want somebody qualified because that person will be president someday. Let's assume of the list you gave one of them will be president a year or so after the election. Which do you think can handle the job effectively? None except maybe Warren. Certainly not Harris. Can you guys be honest and tell me you are not scared of his choice of Abrams. My gosh, at this moment odds are at least 50-50 of her being president someday. Did you see the TV show in which she and Biden appeared and the host and Abrams thought he was going to ask her to be VEEP candidate? Nobody still can figure out why Biden wanted her on the show with him. She was not asked at the time. He's not going to pick Warren but reluctantly she would be my choice but only after Michelle Obama. Why the hell not?? Convince her to do it. She won't only be VEEP, she'll be president soon enough. She is smart; everybody loves her. Barack can help advise if she seeks his help. https://www.npr.org/2020/05/14/854433511/the-pros-and-cons-of-12-potential-running-mates-for-joe-biden?fbclid=IwAR2lrU9CBHCYYDO1xQb2vCT27QPu5Q5Y8qq575uVwF9ISUHO_nzqcC4YuGE Greg, read this. Knock yourself out, but it is going to be one of these women. Why can’t Harris handle it? Why do you feel the need to bring up Abrams repeatedly? She likely doesn’t have the experience needed and won’t be the pick. Why the hell are you so anxious about her being the VP? You also didn’t read what I said about Obama. She doesn’t want to be in politics. If they chose Warren, Trump would love it and could label Biden and her as a socialist. Warren needs to be a senator because the Republican Governor will replace her with someone from his party, plain and simple. 3 hours ago, greg775 said: I don't mind Biden. I think he'll be OK settling things down after 4 years of the egoist Trump if he does not have dementia (notice the interviewer Friday had that as his first question) but without a doubt if this was somebody else they'd leave the race today for what was said. He's survived this gaffe again, but I don't know how it can be deemed anything but truly an offensive statement to African Americans. The fact it was a joke at the END of the short interview makes it less offensive because it can be construed as an interview ending joke. But had a fringe candidate said it, bye bye, you are out of the race. You’re ridiculous. Look at the context without your own feelings and bias. He was being lighthearted at the end and made a random and stupid comment. It will be used in attack ads but it will blow over and the whataboutism wars will persist. Very entitled. Only playing the race card. Went after Biden in a sneaky way. Trump-ish in her ego. I prefer some experience in government to be "qualified." Successful experience. For instance I think Pence would be fine. The only thing I like about Trump is I feel he loves America and is out for American interests always in his trade deals and his bossing around of other countries. Holy fucking shit. So, Harris having won statewide office in a state that's bigger than most countries doesnt count as qualified? Having won a Senate seat from that same state doesnt count as qualified? Having been a major party candidate for POTUS doesnt count as "qualified?" Greg, i understand that you, like all of us have PREFERENCES. Your preferences =/= "qualified." caulfield12
Four reasons for the rush to reopen churches... https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/24/us/churches-reopening-state-orders-trnd/index.html "The Catholic Church asks their members to contribute by dropping money in the basket every week," Zech said. "They don't ask them to tithe, typically don't ask them to pledge, typically they just ask them to contribute through the collection basket. Of course that means that if (parishioners) are not there, then they're not contributing." That's critical, he added, because few churches have sources of revenue beyond contributions from parishioners. More than 12,000 Catholic churches in the US applied for small business loansfrom the federal government, according to Pat Markey, executive director of the Diocesan Fiscal Management Conference (DFMC). Approximately 6,000 parishes were approved in the first round of the Paycheck Protection Program, while 3,000 received loans in the second round, DFMC estimated in early May. Some churches have asked members to contribute electronically while in-person services are suspended. But Zech said the percentage of those who are making payments online is relatively low. You can think what you want about those candidates, but your views are not representative of the entire voting block. I’d rather give voters more credit to analyze candidates for the nomination and come up with better reasoning for why they think multiple candidates would be fits rather than relying on celebrities or the former First Lady (who again, has no interest in politics) to be the Vice President. Give some people more credit than just focusing on one person, a celebrity and former First Lady. You seem so concerned about the VP pick, yet you seem to think that an actual convention would involve both First Ladies and believe it is an automatic win over Trump? Wow. There’s momentum now going to Warren because of her economics/law and Consumer Protection Board experience, as we transition into ongoing series of arguments for stimulating the economy while still lacking a lacking a health care plan that won’t add another $3-5 trillion in debt. And a backlash against Klobuchar...due to her almost complete inability to draw minority voters and the fact that the advantages she provides in MN, IA, WI, MI, OH and PA are essentially the same ones that Biden already has for those particular states. Are you a Bernie Bro, Center-left, Cemter-Right, or a fox news kool-ader? (Once you answer that, THEN feel free to comment on the following.) You are a good poster, with much to add here. But your suppositions about the VP pick, particularly vis a vis Warren are YOUR opinions posed as fact. You seem to be able to cite links for everything except your opinion on the VP pick. (You strangely have no links when you pimp Warren's chances, yet you have links for everything else you post.) Warren would be a craptastic and moronic pick for Biden, IMO. For a variety of reasons, she would be terrible. For as much as you (and others) b**** about Biden's self-pwnage over the past few days, so too has Warren self-pwned herself as well. That said, this crisis means we need a fvkxing grownup to fvkxing run this country. We're reopening this country, yet I think scant attention is paid to how to prevent a recurrence of outbreaks. Zech doesn't know squat. We make pledges every year and fulfill the pledge. They mail you envelopes. I put in money each week to fulfill the pledge. You don't have to make a pledge to be a member. Only something like 40 percent give any money. However, if you aren't a member you can't have a wedding there, etc. You have to sign up and be a member to use the services. I heard our church did OK in getting the pledge money the first month; last month people didn't fulfill their pledges much as we are not a rich parish and they needed the money for food, toilet paper. Yes churches are hurting for money. I'm sure some worse than others. I was upset the doors were slammed shut two months but I fulfilled my donation, calming down and realizing it wasn't their fault we were locked down. We also had and still are having virtual mass online for those uncomfortable going to Mass. Sure the churches need money. Sure we have problems like the lowlifes who abused kids and hopefully all got caught and are rotting in jail. But churches aren't opening only cause they need $$ although they do need cash and some probably will have to close for good now.
