EE is 0 for 15 with 8 strikeouts this spring.  Rusty.

Verducci breaking down his late season inability to catch up to a fastball was a little concerning. That was coming off an injury, but still. Not getting any younger.

It's either that or age finally caught up with him.

How long do they give EE if he sucks before he loses playing time?

It seems like it's going to be the Sox rule of always choosing the wrong DH, whether it has to do with being over the hill or just sucking.

It isn't about spring training, it's about his inability to catch up to a fastball.

It’s March 8th. The games don’t count. Robert got blown away with 3 straight fastballs by the same pitcher. Better start worrying.

To take anything away from veterans performances in spring training is crazy. He isn’t some young guy trying to make the team. He wants to be ready when the bell rings, not when the spring training games start.  People fall for spring training stats every year.

It isn't just that guy, it's been everyone all spring.

You must want to look for things to worry about. Taking anything from these games, at least for veterans, is nuts.

Probably the last 5 or 6 years of Edgar Martinez career, they said he couldn’t catch up to fastballs in spring training. Look him up.

Things like not being able to catch up to a fastball is absolutely something that could carry over.

I generally agree with you about spring numbers, but something this alarmingly bad is cause for concern. It's similar to a pitcher's velo being way down.
