Other fans tossed beer at the fan and shouted profanities and threats at him. A handful of security guards quickly escorted him from his seat, his face covered with a sweater as he walked to a security room.

Some fans were yelling, "Kill him!" and "You cost us the World Series!" as he was being led away.

"He possibly cost us the pennant, and I want to know if it was worth a $20 ball? What a loser," said Sean Henning, who was sitting about five rows back.

What a bunch of f***ing idiots. It's a game, and yeah, the guy might have cost them the game, but kill him? C'mon, that is ridiculous.

Killing him is ridiculous, but if it was the same situation in a Sox game and he did that I would be very tempted to beat the crap out of him.

If the same type of thing happened in that big of a game at The Cell it would have been much worse.  Someone probably would have tried to cut the guy.

The coverage would have boiled down to a serious discussion on Comiskey's location and the rowdy fans. This would all be on the back page of the sports section of course. :D

That may be a little melodramatic, but yeah, I wouldn't want to be the guy that kept the Sox out or the WS with 5 outs left to go.

Now, the guy that kept the Scrubs out or the WS with 5 outs left to go... him I'll raise a glass to... :drink

Seriously, though, I have been trying like hell to do the math. To hear Scrub fans tell it, one potentially missed call of fan interferance and it adds 8 runs to your opponent's score. It's not like anything else went wrong for them that inning I guess. ;)

Marlins in 7!!

"Cubbies is as Cubbies do... Cubbies is as Cubbies do... Cubbies is as Cubbies do... Cubbies is as Cubbies do..."

If the Sox gave up 8 runs in the 8th inning and blew a chance at going to the WS, the last thing I'd be upset about would be a fan who, in a 3-0 game with 1 out and runner on 2nd, interfered with a flyball. The Cubs should have won that game regardless of what happened on that play. They simply blew it, and have NOBODY to blame but themselves.

If they wanna kill the fan there a bunch of Idiots and they deserve to lose. The fan had nothing to do. If they wanna scream they can scream to Alex"Don't call me Leon Durham" Gonzalez. If Agon makes that play the inning is over.

I disagree big time........

That play had everything to do with the outcome of the game. If Alou makes that catch, there are two out with a runner on 2nd. There is no way you can convince me that the Marlins still score 8 runs or even 3 in that situation...

That said, yes, they had chances to overcome it and did not so they do bear part of the blame. But you cannot tell me if the same thing happened to the Sox, Sox fans would not be calling for his head too.

Lastly, the thing that sucks for the guy is that there were two other guys doing the same exact thing, they just couldn't quite reach the ball. They will get off scott free while this guy takes the punishment alone. Its not like they weren't trying to do the same thing.

True rex, But s*** they had the chance to get out of it. It all seems taylor Made. The thing that pissed me is that the 2 or 3 morons that went after the ball too pointed at the guy so security could kick him out.. HUH they all went after it..

The crubs got Confident, now they might pay with the series

Likewise, you could say that there's no way the Marlins should score 8 runs with 1 out and runner on 2nd and Mark Prior on the hill. ANYTHING can happen, and that was proved tonight.

Yes, the Alou thing might have cost the Cubs the game (which I acknowledged in my original post), but to say that it certainly did is inaccurate.

The Cubs BLEW it, plain-and-simple.

It was a hard call to make by the umps. It could have gone either way, and had it gone in favor of the Cubs, there's a strong possibility that people would be complaining that the ball would have gone foul and that the fan has every right to catch that ball.

Also....that Sean Henning guy I believe his name is....he's a f***ing dumbass. Had he been in that exact same situation, he would have tried to get the ball too, and beer would have been poured on him and he would be wanted dead or alive by an angry mob of Cubs fans.

There was nothing hard about that call. The ump was right there and got it right. No question whatsoever.

I agree, the call was correct. However...had the fan been wearing a Marlins hat instead of a Cubs hat, there would be much more controversy involved.

My favoritie Cub fan of the night was the one they interviews on Fox News after the game.

He was braggin about ripping the sweater off the guys head so his face would plastered all over the media and people will "get him"

He was so proud he gave his name.

Later they reported he was arrested.

Do you know what you call a fan who may have cost the Cubs a WS trip?

A Sox Fan. Let's welcome him to real baseball. I think he's going to fit in just perfectly.

No thanks. I don't want a fan that is not aware of the situation on the field and costs his team a very important out in the most important game for his team in the past 20 years. He fits right in as a Cub fan.

From the quick replay I saw he was looking up the entire time with other fans jostling him trying to get to the ball. He never knew it was a player also trying to get to the ball. He can be a Sox fan,

he just can't sit by the rail

I believe security came to get the guy to protect him. He wasn't getting tossed, he was being saved. They even gave him a little disguise to get out of the area alive!

You gotta love the irony though. The park they all love so much cost them that play. If the wall is normal height and the foul territory is like all the new parks, Owlou has some room in foul territory and the fans would have been able to see him coming at them. He would have either caught the ball a few feet away from the stands, or the fans might have moved out of his way, or maybe he would have even been taller than them and made the catch. Wouldn't it be hilarious if the ivy costs them the winning run tonight?

I think that play was VERY influential as to how the rest of the inning panned out but I dont know if it truly cost them the game...Prior was tired, Gonzalez's Error and Shammy's missin of the cut off man on the sac fly didnt help much either....

But its sad to say but you know a Sox fan would do something JUST AS STUPID...For example, just about every game, a fair ball down the line is picked up by a fan sittin in those new rows with the low fence...IN FACT I BET THE SOX LEAD THE LEAGUE IN FAN INTERFERANCE!!!!! LOL
