I watched Chuck and Jason "call" simulated games of MLB the Show on YouTube for weeks so whatever, I'm ready for the wacky.

Now can they digitally remove Joe Buck from broadcasts?

I think it's just an uncanny valley issue for me. All video game - fine. Real life + cardboard - great, funny. Real Life + Video Game - distracting.

I'm willing to give it a try, and I could see liking it once I got used to it. Plus it will be hilarious to watch the tech gore highlights of broadcasts where things bug and the fans are all suddenly upside down or flickering 20 times a second or whatever.

I've decide my viewpoint is I like it for the sides/outfield, will not like it in the scout seats behind the batter.

Yeah, I'm concerned it will make it harder to pick up the ball as it goes towards or leaves home plate, I don't think the ball stands out as much against the virtual background as the natural fans.

They're doing the wave, so I gotta go hate.

Anybody remember fans bringing 'no wave' signs to old Comiskey? "Go to Wrigley" whenever people started the wave. For a couple years my dad had tickets in the Nancy Faust section, any attempt would be stopped dead in its tracks once it swung around there. The entire section would froth in anger in the face of such an indignity being imposed upon their beloved ballpark, and all the bottled up vitriol that comes with modern life would be unleashed upon the transgressors. Never had a better time at the ballpark than sitting in that section. Had to have been the best fans in all of baseball, a bunch of absolute nuts, and the view was incredible. Upper deck and had a better view than 90% of seats in the lower deck today. I'd rather watch at home than sit in the upper deck at today's ballparks. Man, what a place. I still dream of it.

Fake noise already has it's flaws

Yes.  Reminds me of those old radio broadcasts of away games in the early 1950's.  WCFL, IIRC.  Broadcasters did not travel with the team, and the studio guy read the results of each pitch from a teletype or whatever, with fake noise.  Announcer's name  was Bob Finnegan, I believe.  Don't ask me how I remember stuff like that.  Bob Elson did the home games, of course.
