The team has looked dead the last few games. They are closer to last place than they are to 1st place. Hopefully they can win a couple games in Detroit.

We really need to pick things up. We have guys out but that is no excuse as everyone else does as well. We have enough quality hitters in our lineup where we should be putting up a better fight. We are 8 and 8 and the feel out games are over. Let's start playing AND coaching with urgency. And most importantly, let's get a god (d) (m) effing win!

Tigers actually are coming in playing well.  This could be an absolute train wreck.  I have no faith in Renteria rallying these guys emotionally.

The Tigers are horrible, doesn’t matter if they performed well in a small sample size. Anything but a series win would be a major disappointment

I'm with you but right now they are playing better baseball than the Sox, that's a fact.  Things can change but I don't have faith that Renteria will have these guys ready to go tonight.  I can see another lineup change and another 3-4 run performance.  And with all the injuries to the pitching that won't be enough more often than not.

The Tigers went .500 against a scuffling Reds team and the Royals, then swept the abysmal Pirates. They might be the best of the worst teams but this is absolutely still a bad baseball team, and even if we are the worst of the best teams we should be able to win this series.

As you put it, how horrible the Tigers will end up is irrelevant. This is a small sample size series and they have been playing well. In fact, they may feel disappointed if they lose to us. Respect is earned, and so far, they have more of it. This is a good time to show MLB we have in fact arrived.

Well, that's definitely another reason NOT to be discouraged.

That we very easily could have beaten Bieber and been at least 9-7 despite hitting 2-3 standard deviations worse than the average MLB team with RISP.

Has to correct itself eventually.   More than 1/9th of the season encapsulated in those horrific numbers.

If anything that's a good sign. These numbers are going to normalize. No team hits .091 over a season, even if it's an abbreviated one.

And they somehow went 3-4 in that stretch.  Get a few more hits to fall in and they will be fine if the pitching just holds up a little.  Losing 2 SP and Bummer is not good, with Bummer probably being the worst of the 3 to lose.
