Plesac and Clevinger Gone; For how Long?

So does anyone else think they're both gone for a while? Cleveland claims they weren't sent down for punitive reasons lol

Plesac makes that dumb ass video, and then arrives to talk with the team with Clevinger today. They basically tell both of them to get lost after the conversation, which leads me to believe it didn't go well.

How long will the Indians keep them off the big league roster? I think Francona's health issues paired with Carlos' really exasperated the issue in Cleveland and made these two look like even bigger morons.

They'll be down as long as their remaining back end pieces don't completely implode, the longer the better for Francona and Antonetti. Clevinger hadn't been feeling comfortable all season long.   If his numbers mirrored last year, a much more difficult decision.

Six minute, well-intentioned but badly conceived/poorly-rationalized/non-apologetic explanation on Insta.

What about his video was well intentioned?

He blamed everyone but himself for making a bad decision that he chose to make. He then blamed the media"?" For his own teammates calling him out..

My favorite was when he started to tell us that his mom is a nurse and his brother is diabetic so he knows how serious the disease is... which actually just makes him an even bigger d bag.

They're going to be kept down just long enough for one more year of control each.

At least enough for Plesac to kiss his super 2 status goodbye. Apparently some on the Tribe's roster said they would opt out if nothing was done about these two. And Lindor was supposedly very outspoken within the team meeting, although he opting out was not on the table.

Either this is trying to up his trade value or the Indians talked tough, but backed off. Missing 2 starts is nothing.

completely voluntarily suspending one of your own best starting pitchers for 2 starts is definitely not nothing

they broke the agreed upon team rules. Read above in this thread about the initial team meeting - Indians are taking covid VERY seriously.

I'm well aware of what they did. I also think 25/30 teams in baseball would have been too chicken shit to do anything except criticize the players, and some might even have dug in and defended them. Cleveland stuck to their principles and suspended Clevinger for 10-20% of the starts he would normally get this year.

We speculated that they might be done for the year but CLE never said that, and I don't see how you can criticize them for 'backing down" when they went further than maybe any other team would have. SPs will get 12 starts this year, 2 starts is not nothing.

I think we, as White Sox fans in particular, are in no position to criticize either, since our players only started wearing masks after the MLB cracked down after outbreaks, and then they put up with them for all of a week before going back to basically no masks and no social distancing (at least from the camera shots I have seen). Our team needs to do better.
