yes, starters should never ever give up runs.

Cease goes 6 IP and gives up 2 runs and you clowns are shaming the coach. This is just a joke at this point.

What’s the purpose of have a 14 pitchers if you don’t use any of them?

There is a way to balance the development of a young pitcher and still try to win games.  I was totally fine with bringing Cease out, but the leash should have been short as fuck.  And honestly, guys like Foster, Heuer, & Burdi need work given the the off-day tomorrow.  Not having them ready to go was an epic fail and even the staunchest Ricky supporter has to admit that.

Yes, a great way to develop a young pithcer is to always say you're not good enough to go into the 6th, or throw starter pitch counts, even though you just got 5 outs last inning and pitched around your defense crushing you.

He made one mistake that inning; he wasn't tired. Shit happens. My lord. this is just nauseating to read.

GO TO THE BULLPEN for every single decision. It's embarrassing.

Obviously we need to sacrifice today’s winnable game for some theoretical advantage a month from now (in a 60 game season)

Oh, the Sox have used their relievers plenty. And you guys don't want ANY reliever in the game. You want the same guys in every single game that is close and you want them in before the 7th inning. Even when the starter is rolling. It's just hilarious.

Cease is gassed. He had 5 high stress innings. nobody even stretching in the pen should be a fireable offense

It’s ridiculous.  No good manager runs him back out there after all of his struggles today.

HE LOADED THE BASES? LOLOLOL

He got 5 fcking outs in the inning. How did he load the bases?

It doesn't matter how, they were still loaded that leads to a stressful inning, not like he was really sharp either plus being close to 90 pitches to start the inning you need to have someone up. Not saying I would have taken him out after Baez but the option should be there

That's what I'm wondering. He started every 5th day last year when he was struggling at times. Now that he's found a niche for him, he never uses him.

It's baffling honestly. The guy hasn't given up anything yet through 11 innings and we never use him.

The only joke is the only member of the Ricky Renteria fan club making excuses for every dumb decision he makes.

It’s not about Cease giving up runs. That stuff happens. I‘m not saying  he should have pulled Cease after 5, but to at least have someone up in the pen as he was closing in on 100 pitches and leaving his breaking ball up.

Any thought to getting Cease out after the scary 5th inning?

We felt he could get out of it.

What was that based on Ricky?

(points to gut and discusses how long he's been in the game)

We've been wanting the same guys all weekend because he keeps not putting those guys in so they are still rested and ready to go each time we go over this

This bullpen is hands down one of the bright spots on this team. Probably top 5 in baseball right now. There is zero reason not to go to the pen and try and let cease get a win there since Ricky is so worried about his starters staying in the game to get the meaningless W stay.

You see other teams around baseball having quicker hooks than ever without having the quality of bullpen the Sox do.
