Chisoxfn
Bottomline, if I were a Cub fan, I'd be pointing a lot of my blame at him. It sickens me to see how he handles that pitching staff. You could really tell from Wood and Priors most recent starts that they were wearing out. Velocity was down and their mechanics weren't near as good. They were also tiring out quite a bit earlier then typical. Dusty, tahts what you get when you have your pitchers throw and extra 20 pitches when they don't need to quite a few times in a season. It adds up to another two or three starts and thats all you would of needed. They will be really lucky if Wood/Prior/Zambrono don't get hurt. My gut tells me Zambrono and Wood go down next year. Well, its because of him that they are this far anyway, so I don't think all the blame should be on him. BUT, just for this series, the blame can be passed around: dusty, gonzalez, pitching, bullpen, batman
clujer420
Um, how about blame Mark Prior who BLEW a 3-0 lead in the 8th inning? How about blame Kerry Wood who BLEW a 5-3 lead after his team scored 5 unanswered come-from-behind runs? The last person that deserves blame is Steve Bartman. The 2nd to last person that deserves blame is Dusty Baker. If it wasn't for Dusty, the Cubs wouldn't have even gotten to the NLCS IMO. I've disagreed all season with the way he's handled his pitchers and I think it will have a lasting effect. I could see it also becoming a huge brightspot if they do turn into complete workhorses and stay healthy. I do agree though, Gonzo and the players are at fault too. So all of a sudden after pitching 7 shutout innings last night, Prior brokedown because of how many innings he pitched this season? That's a weak excuse for the choke job the Cubs managed to pull off.

Not saying it would of made a difference though and I won't second guess him for sticking with Prior, you stick with your horse.
cwsox
Jas, a friend of mine is a SF fan and he was very happy when Baker left the Giants because of how, in my friend's opinion, Baker mishandled the pitching staff, especially in the playoffs now I see what he meant - and I am glad the consensus at the bar tonight where I watched the game (awash in my diet cokes) was Gonzalez is the goat of the cubs - that 8th inning error - although I took special joy in seing sam-me mishandle the ball today - was not game changing, but just fun to see! their whole tam blew it - Farnsworth was not exactly effective in relief - and when you have 3 chances to win 1 game, blow 2 leads, one in the 8th inning, in 2 games in your own ballpark, that is a team effort
IlliniKrush
Dusty sure f***ed up the 7th..he brings in Veres? Are you joking? Then, Beckett is on deck, no one warming up...and he doesn't get him out of the game by going with an intentional walk or making him hit into an out...dusty is a moron

The bottom line is if your team doesn't win it all, there's always some place to find fault with the skipper.

greg775
Somebody here at work just heard Brian McRae on KC radio saying Torre may leave the Yankees for the White Sox. Sounds like another urban legend to me.

Sounds like another urban legend to me. I'd be stunned if it happened. I do think torre is a pretty sharp and nice guy. THe only flaw is he reminds me so much of JM. But all that bling bling should command some respect.

Chisoxfn
Anytime that Jason rags on the Cubs, I aint about to argue with him. It really says something. Afterall I pretty much rooted for the Cubs all year. Then for some reason after that whole fan incident, my cub passion started to wilter. It had nothing to do with them losing (Afterall I've put up with my sports teams losing all my life) but a lot of Cub fans really get on my nerves. Everytime I go to a Cub game I hear them tell me how the Sox suck, and all this other stuffa nd then they go on about Sammy whose a freaking bum. The guy is a decent DH, thats it. Was he amazing in the past, YES. But he wasn't the best ever. Defense...he ain't go any...Arm...WEAKSAUCE, and attitude, he's SELFISH.
