I was joking that 54 games is usually the 1/3 point in the season. Obviously being on pace for 102 wins would be great. Hopefully the starting pitchers can carry their weight the rest of the way. It’s not looking good right now. We’ll see how they bounce back.

We have some great players who I love, and who will do a lot to keep us in any game, and we have a lot of bad players. Edwin, Mazara, Fry, Lopez, Grandal, all garbage. And what, did you think I would disappear in disappointment if we came back? Nope. I love this team and always will. But I don’t have loyalty to players just because we make the mistake of acquiring them. I wasn’t here last fall but I disliked the Grandal deal as soon as it happened. I still dislike it. I hope he succeeds because I don’t want us holding a hot potato for four years, but I won’t be surprised if he doesn’t. I want the brand to succeed more than anything. Some of you have this idea that certain posters bash certain players because they’re secretly Twins fans or something. Maybe, just maybe, some of us bash certain players because they prevent the White Sox from being what they ought to be. I think mostly everyone here is a White Sox fan above all else, not tied to any individual player. If we had to trade Abreu or TA for example in order to receive three players back that as a collective guaranteed us a better chance at winning consistently, see ya guys. I hate watching Mazara and Edwin hit as much as anyone, but this is the best team we’ve had in over a decade even WITH those bums. The rebuild wasn’t suppose to be ready until year 5, were ahead of schedule. We haven’t been to the playoffs in 12 years (I was 17 and was lucky enough to attend the black out game). We have a team with a young talented core, were going to get better. This has been a shit year, but seeing a winning team again (yes a flawed winning team), has been a great distraction. Enjoy the ride, this team is pretty much going to be IN every game, win or lose. And I’m pessimistic as fuck, but there’s no point. It’s a game, watch it or don’t. ChiSoxFanMike
Quantrill is pitching for Cleveland tomorrow. I wish the Sox would move Giolito up a day to maximize their chances of getting the win. Because they probably aren’t beating Bieber anyway. caulfield12
We still have the biggest run differential in the AL by 16 over Oakland, 15 over the Twins/Yankees and 20 over the Rays. We desperately need Bummer back, and for something....anything, approaching a 800ish OPS for the remainder of the year (through the playoffs) from Moncada, Robert, EE, Mazara and Grandal. At least two of those guys are going to have to hit, because Abreu, Jimenez and Anderson can't carry the team forever. We also don't seem to have a 3rd starter at the moment that's a clear-cut choice, so that's yet another "up in the air" issue.

Hopefully the Cubs' finale series can wake them up out of their stupor, assuming they go on to lose 3/4 against the Indians. That would mean suffering a 2-5 stretch and likely the division decided the final weekend. The Twins have Detroit (2 games) and then Cincy (3) to finish the season...so the much easier schedule, unless the Reds have every game this weekend as "sudden death," which could work in our favor with the Cubs already locked into the postseason.
tray
With Bieber starting one game for the Tribe and ReyLo starting one for the WhiteSox I feel like we lose 2/3 of the remaining games with Cleveland and maybe get swept. If that happens the Cubs are going to be in a position to deny the Sox the Division championship....and that may end up being all they get this season. Encarcion should only be used as a pinch hitter with the proviso that Renteria never calls for a pinch hitter. Too late to DFA him, just bench the old sob. caulfield12
It's almost too cruel to make the Twins face the Yankees again, right? Who knows, maybe a match-up with NY instead would be enough to wake up the White Sox...as it feels like we're kind of sleep-walking along in a bit of stupor, but that's always the case when an offense is starting to struggle as a unit. We aren't THAT far removed from five homers in a game, but it still almost feels like it happened a week ago.

Ozzie said that he would rather see a flag for this year that says "2020 Division Championship", and I agree with him. 2. That might be all that the Sox get this season. It is within reach. 3. The Cubs and Cub fans would get a rise out of denying the White Sox the Division Championship and busting their balls going into the play-offs. 4. D.J. also said during the radio broadcast he feels the team really wants to win the Division as well, not sure what Stone said or why. A few positives I took from the game were: 1. Robert's second consecutive two walk game. Pitchers have been feeding him a heavy diet of away sliders he kept swinging feebly at. He is making adjustments and laying off, taking the walk, or four, today and yesterday. 2. Jimenez had another great game. Nice to see him run out the ball late, indicating he was OK after the scare early in the ballgame. 3. The team battled back after an early 4 spot, kept plugging away until the final at bat where they could have tied it against one of the best closers. CaliSoxFanViaSWside
Fry had 10 scoreless appearences in a row . 9 before his injury ,1 after. Yes his control has been an issue but we cant expect perfection. Sox didnt get more than 4 anyway so even with 5 shutout inning from then pen we are still tied. Frys last outing didnt he K four in a row ? There was some guy on here who wanted him to pitch longer than he did when he's basically a lefty specialist coming off an injury ,who pitches less than 1 inning per outing. He didnt look to be throwing very hard tonight.

Already got in the playoffs and the BP is in flux with the expected returns of Bummer and possibly Rodon and then they have to pitch and decisions made on very small sample sizes which of them go to the 1st round. Right now I dont know if one person could predict correctly who is going to be in the pen for the 1st playoff series. Similarly less certainty in our rotation as well... to a much lesser degree. It’s becoming quickly apparent that this is simply year one of our competitive window. We didn’t act like San Diego at the deadline ( no complaints from me there ) and our ship is treading water. We need another SP. We need another period of growth for Cease and Dunning ( that’s happening in real time ). We need Vaughn and a right fielder who isn’t impotent. After all of the fantastic strides I’ve seen this year and after all of the hope I’ve gained... this is sincerely the lowest point I’ve had all year as a White Sox fan. The struggles out of the gate we’re easy to write off but now my expectations for 2020 are quickly being pulled into the undertow. Sox are in a bit of a funk and it's not been that bad. Robert is going to get hot again and Jose is gonna ignite the guys in the postseason. He knows nothing is guaranteed in this game and Sox won't waste at bats in the postseason as many are doing now. Pitching is off, too. We'll see but I think Sox will be OK.
