They may get away with the scam, but I really don't think this is legal. Campaign donations are supposed to be used for campaigning. The mayor of Whiting, IN, got indicted because he was using campaign donations to pay off gambling debts. It was a shame he did this, because he otherwise was a dedicated public official. But what he did was clearly illegal and he is going to pay for it.

Trump has gotten into trouble like this before. Solicit money for a cause but divert it for personal use. That is why his so-called foundation got shut down.

It shows the Trumpies just don't get it, and they don't get it on two counts. First, their man was trounced in a fair and legal election. Secondly, he is fleecing them for their money while doing nothing for them. One more thing: their man is nothing but a dictator. Telling a governor to "declare an emergency" is a trait of a true dictator.

He is a televangelist but he has somehow overtaken the GOP

My hope is that Trump goes scorched earth in the "backstabbing" GOP and costs them both seats in Georgia.

McConnell said something about "the new administration" as well today. They're ready to cut bait, but there's 0% chance the man with an iron grip on the party's base will go away.

It would be the correct payback for everyone who sold out the party for Trump.

The Christians are planning December 14 as D day and stockpiling supplies. God will over rule the legislature in some way I surmise.

I'm thinking I'll be consistent no matter who the president is with this call to action.

The president should not be allowed to pardon someone for a crime the president was involved in or benefited from.

Hopefully we can all agree to this.

Hopefully we can all agree that "preemptive pardons" should also be disallowed.

We call that the reverse-Trump.

You can play with numbers from any states, especially the swing states, and see how Biden won.  If PA and MI had gone to Trump along with say GA, Trump would have won.  But in that case you're talking about 250,000+ votes.  I get what the author of the tweet is saying, though.  The electoral college is ridiculous and needs to be abolished.

Yes.  I can't believe preemptive pardons are even a thought.

Yes, the electoral college is ridiculous and needs to be abolished. There is just no need for it now. But the GOP is not going allow that to happen because they can still win elections while having the minority. It will take a constitutional amendment to make the change and that is not going to happen in the near future.

We keep hearing how Trumpism is not going anywhere. But Trump was not able to appeal to outside his base, and he lost the popular vote two times in a row. And if his Kool-Aid drinkers keep using intimidation as a way to overturn elections, the negative reaction to that base will be even stronger. The Dems didn't do as well in 2020 as they wanted, but they made gains in elections in 2017 and 2018. Trump areas flipped. Trumpism isn't as strong as people think. Without the electoral college, it is nothing. And if someone is killed as a result of this ignorant attempt to sway the election, the backlash will be furious.

It's amazing to me that news outlets, including MSNBC and CNN, are still spending more time talking about Trump and his ludicrous attempts to overturn the election than time talking about COVID and the new administration.  Trump is getting exactly what he wants right now: Attention and money from his clueless sheep.

The news conference with the GA election official needs to be a wakeup call to the GOP.  People are being threatened with their lives for doing their damn jobs.  People's families are being threatened.  This shit would never had happened with a real Republican president/candidate.  Could you imagine this happening when McCain or Romney lost?  Now we have a majority of the GOP either remaining silent or actively supporting Trump.  And we have many Democrats just wagging their fingers saying, "Hey, that's not right."  Someone is going to get hurt or killed over this.  When will someone wake the fuck up and stand up to the tantrum-throwing infant lame duck president?

The 70k comes from the 3 closest states, though. If Trump wins AZ, GA, and Wisconsin (all within 25k or less), that puts it at a 269-269 tie and the way the house votes on the president made it extremely likely that Trump would have the votes to swing it his way in the house.

This is partially why the AZ call on election night was such a big deal. Even though it turned out closer than expected, by 2-3am it was pretty clear Wisconsin/Michigan were going to end up for biden and NV as well. Then it was just waiting and a close enough margin that it seemed like a nailbiter.

Absurd amounts of wealth concentrated in the hands of a few is becoming a bigger problem.  Socialism isn't the answer but SOMETHING and probably more than one thing (like increasing taxes on the wealthy)will have to be done.

Same goes for a health care system based on employer based health insurance coverage. It is not a sustainable model for the future. When  redneck republicans  realize that many of them are on the short end of the stick in this country, the GOTP (grand old Trump party)  will see their numbers drop from 47%.

Some of them are starting to realize that they were conned and lied to by Trump and Fox News. Nobody likes that.

The Obama plan was nothing but a giveaway to health care insurers for which the insurers agreed to reduce their share of the health care dollar from 23% to 21%.  Still a lot of money for pushing some paper around.  Somehow that got confused with Socialized Medicine and it cost the Democrats the House and Senate.  Now we can't live without it.

He's a little freer now that POTUS discussed firing him (and Fauci) after the election because Barr wouldn't initiate an investigation of Biden and son corruption at POTUS's request before the election.  Suddenly he found a pair.

The tantrum is sort of amusing in how insane and sophomoric it is, like the hilarious errors in Powell’s Kraken and the non-existent Edison County in Michigan and so on. But I haven’t taken it as a serious thing in weeks. This was all officially over four days after the election.

I am much more interested in talking about Biden’s picks, some of whom I like (Blinken and Flournoy), some of whom I’m ambivalent on (Yellen and Tanden), and some of whom piss me off (Psaki- but she’s only press sec, so, whatever).

In a lawsuit challenging election results in WI, the brilliant ⁦@SidneyPowell1⁩ demands “48 hours of security camera recording of all rooms used in the voting process at the TCF Center for Nov 3, 2020 and Nov 4, 2020.”

The TCF Center is in Detroit. Oops, wrong state.

She really should be sanctioned at least, and perhaps have her law license revoked.

Trump trying to overturn the election is important because it demonstrates that he not paying attention to COVID, not that he ever did. But with a potential vaccine, Trump should be fully engaged with that and not chasing after fantasies.

You are right the GA press conference. I am convinced that the Dems' under-achieving results in the election was partly because they got tied to the Defund Police movement. That scared people and made the Dems look like they were in with the violent protestors. If some gets seriously hurt over this stupid Trump stuff, the GOP will suffer especially since they did little or nothing to discourage this nonsense. It's one thing for Trumpies to yell and scream and intimidate, it's quite another for real violence. The Republicans are still afraid of Trump, but they are being afraid for the wrong reason.

Right, these were the "tipping point states."

And the ultimate outcome is that a 3M+ popular vote loss in 2016 netted the exact same number of Electoral Votes as a 7M+ popular vote win did in 2020. It's a fundamentally broken system if what you want is an actual democracy.

The Medicaid expansion was really good, shame that one unelected judge got to rewrite that important part of the law and kept millions from accessing healthcare for years.

The truth is we do not have a true democracy and the system can be corrupted by the unethical. Meanwhile December 8 and 14 loom large as the dates for electoral voting then confirmation in Congress. It is sure to be disrupted by some noise and unrest.
