Briro2021
Obviously Frank is #1. But who would be #2? Chris Sale? Any current Sox about to take over #2? Edited December 20, 2020 by Briro2021

maxjusttyped
Depends how you weight career value vs peak. No one alive has seen a better pitcher on the White Sox than Chris Sale, but obviously Buehrle had a "better" career with the Sox.

Soxbadger
Buehrle is the answer.
Quin
Career: Buehrle Peak: Sale Hitter: Konerko (Both bWAR and fWAR argue Robin over Konerko here, but 2005 alone tips the scales towards Paulie)
Quin
Also, if this turns into a Buehrle thread, I need to share one of my favorite articles ever: The Curious Case of Mark Buehrle It's essentially a breakdown of how Mark was able to defy every single bit of conventional wisdom when it came to pitching. These two paragraphs are a fun nugget. Quote In fact, if we add together the value of Buehrle’s ability to pick off runners before he throws a pitch with his glove work after he throws a pitch — which Baseball Info Solutions does with its Defensive Runs Saved statistic — we find that Buehrle has saved himself 85 runs since 2003 alone. That works out to 34 runs saved over a full defensive season, which means leaving the world of Tulowitzki behind and reaching the planet inhabited by Andrelton Simmons, the best defensive player in the universe. For his career, Simmons has saved an average of 32 runs above average per season. And that, in essence, is the secret of Buehrle’s success: He’s a thoroughly average pitcher, but thanks to what he does before and after he hurls the ball to home plate, he saves more runs than any defensive player alive inning for inning. 3

MackowiakYakYak
Buerhle without a doubt. He gave us the statistics and the best moments. I remember watching Sportscenter and every play had the Buerhle-meter. He had his buzzed save in the World Series. The no hitter and perfect game giving us the Dewayne Wise catch. No contest. 1
