FWIW: Harold told me this yesterday afternoon. There’s no reason to question his info.

I don't think anybody is questioning his info. He definitely has sources, and I appreciate when he shares information. I just don't understand why he was trying to discredit Beef/Portillos by saying they would have leaked the Hendriks signing sooner if they were true insiders. Those food accounts might not have had the signing yet, or they might have had it and chose not to leak it just like Harold. Either way, it doesn't mean they don't have sources. It seems pretty obvious they have connections somewhere, even if it's secondhand.

People love Colome the more they didn't watch him. His ERA+ was 558 last year, which is just bonkers. And I was satisfied with him! But I totally understand this move.

Colome also is a free agent. So its not like the Sox were guaranteed to keep him. You cant even begin to judge the decision until we see the deal Colome gets. Then its a question of was the difference worth the cost. People are acting like the Sox were entitled to Colome.

Agreed.

I could also see the argument that his cutter will be able to hold up for a while, since that's really all he throws.

I think the actual discussion would be if Heuer, Foster, or even Bummer could have filled in that role, but, again, I have a hard time saying no to the best reliever on the market.

For a franchise that is very stingy with money to drop 18 million a year on a reliever for the next 3 years minimum is not the smartest move. If we had 180 million dollar payroll, cool. 130 Million dollar payroll not so much.

I guess the big difference is that at no point in this contract is it actually 18M/per for for some reason some people can’t comprehend that

I was thinking the same thing. And he actually used the word “minimum”, making it sound like it could possibly be more than $18M per year!

Fuck boys. My fault. I totally misread this and criticism is definitely warranted. Yeah, This deal is not so bad. I mean 13 million for a reliever is pricey but at least he is the best going now.

I do still hold out hope we can get up to 150 payroll but whatever as long as we win.

It isn’t you. The way it’s described is misleading. The typical way to describe a contract is MaxYears/MaxMoney, but this contract is unique and general talk about it has been confusing and misleading.

I like the deal. It’s basically the Will Smith deal with an innovative compromise for a “4th year”

love or hate Hahn, he is good with contract structure.

Zero reason this team shouldn’t be at $160M+ in the not too distant future.

Yeah.  Loved that.  Thanks for sharing it.

Makes me want to hold onto Heuer even more.

Good info. He is NOT getting traded...unless it was the 4th year anyways. This team is built on a 4 year plan minimum, which is so refreshing how Hahn locked all core pieces up.

Minus Giolito (if you exclude the arb), but I think he'll get locked up.
