Nokona
If I'm honest I'd rather Los and Folty at 6m combined than Wainwright at 8.

Rowand44
In general I really wouldn’t care about this but this absolutely means they’re done adding to the pitching staff(outside of minor league deals) and I couldn’t hate that more. Rey and Rodon combined are going to make a whole 3 mill less than Q. Just throwing that out there.

We must not share the same definition of the word “absolutely”.
ShoeLessRob
So the Padres go out and completely revamp their rotation and the White Sox trade for Lynn and re-sign Carlos. This will blow up in their face in the dog days of August.

Yup. They’re paying Carlos and Rey a combined 5 mill to compete for that 5th spot. They’re not bringing anyone of substance on at this point, not in the rotation. I would have guessed somewhere around $3M, but if we had to “outbid” the Cubs for him I guess I could see up to $5M. That would shock the hell out of me. SonofaRoache
If we add Hamels I'll be okay with Rodon. Let three guys fight for 5th at this point. Q was the answer, but oh well.
Orlando
Lol did Nightengale think the Sox signed Colome? I would love if that actually happened.

There is plenty of time for him to work with Katz, and either keep him as starter depth, or transition him properly to a bullpen role. Welcome back Carlos and Ashley. I like the signing and Rodon getting to work with Katz. Surprised the Sox would go 3 million for him, however. I think it is a real sign that Katz has faith of the FO. Tweeting Rodon is the Sox former closer then deleting it is a bit of a thing.

Wisebri224
This whole discussion is a hoot. They have spent over 5 million to two reclamation projects and possibly signing a third. Spending about hmmmmm 8 million total? Who could you have had for that? Only thing we hope is that 2 of 3 is good and you can move one at deadline
Jack Parkman
If Rodon had the same track record on another team we'd all be ok at the very least with this signing.

southsider2k5
Going into this off season we were hoping for a front end pitcher plus some stock for the backhalf. We basically did that with Lynn and Rodon, but subtracted Dunning to do it. One more filler should fit the expectations after losing Dunning. SonofaRoache
I guess we know where that 3 million difference between Eaton and Joc offer went.
