Cubs 2021

Is it just me or does anyone else notice Cubmania in Chicago seems to be at about as low of level since pre Harry Caray? Sure, they will probably sell out or nearly sell out their remaining home games, but it’s the middle of June, they are in contention, and whether it’s a newspaper or television, you almost have search for Cubs stuff. Even when they really sucked, it was always in your face. Maybe it’s Marquee, maybe winning took the tolerance of not being the best away, but it seems really different. Hopefully the Sox can capitalize.

Are there still local newspapers or widely watched television news broadcasts in Chicago (or anywhere)? Tonight is one of the few games to be televised for either team over the air this season. Solid marketing effort to keep shrinking interest shrinking further, across both sides of town. Fegan is the only Sox beat writer who actually does something more than parrot the FO and kick out a game recap an automated writing program can mimic.

Reminds me of the cigarette companies. Maximize profit now, your customers are dying soon. MLB stewardship the past four decades. Would never follow the team now if it wasn't embedded by playing and watching since the 70s. Not sure if they will ever recover interest in the sport which was still the king of all sports as recently as the 70s.

It's not cold in here, you're just dying.....

It's not just you. I really think that winning in 2016 hurt interest. They finally got their championship, but things waned. Used to be that Cub fans took anything the Tribune Company dished out, and it was okay. You could kick a Cub fan down a flight of stairs, and it would be okay if the stairs were carpeted. Now there seems to be a layer of bitterness.

With the Tribune not owning the Cubs, the constant propaganda has dwindled. The lovable stuff is gone even with the good string of seasons they had. I think the Ricketts family thought they could stand by the Harry statue with an Old Style and everything would be great. Wrong.

Can the Sox capitalize? They can if they complete this rebuild and finally turn the team into an elite American League franchise. We will see if that happens.

I have also noticed — would have expected this surprising first-place run to set Cubdom on fire more than it has seemed to. I think the fan base still senses things are headed in the wrong direction and is waiting for the other shoe to drop on this season.

Hoping the Cubs sweep Cleveland, sticking close at least with Civale on the mound, their only SP still standing at this point.

They showed the first pitcher inspection, Alzolay got hi fives fro teammates after passing.

Doubt umps will check inside Cease’s pants based on previous replays of him digging around his crouch during previous games.

Well, there's at least one manager paying attention to more than unwritten rules in Chicago.

Quote

Mon, Jun 21

Javier Baez was benched by Cubs manager David Ross after losing track of the number of outs in the bottom of the fourth inning against the Indians.

Advice: Baez evidently thought there were two outs when Anthony Rizzo hit a one-out flyball to left field and he was easily doubled off of first base. Ross then decided to replace Baez at shortstop with Sergio Alcantara. Baez was hitless in two plate appearances.

For crying out loud, the Cubs can't help us at all against Cleveland.

What a great division the NL Central is. The Brewers lose to the Diamondbacks, and the Reds lose to the Twins.

As far as help regarding Cleveland, you won't get it from the Cubs. And the Sox shouldn't expect it from anyone  else either.

The Zobrist marital affair just got wackier...$6 million lawsuit against former pastor/marital counselor filed.

This is really sad.  He's my (now former) neighbor and was by all accounts a very good dude.

Yawn was your former neighbor?  It just goes to show you that you never really know someone.  What he did was such a breach of trust and ethics.

Lol honestly I thought the pastor was much more likely than Zobrist.  Zobrist does seem like a nice guy tho

He signed autographs outside his house for hours after the World Series.  He also drove the WS MVP Camaro back to his pad and let the neighborhood kids sit inside.  Met him teaching his daughter to ride a bike.  Extremely nice and down to earth guy and it's sad to see that he seems to have been abused by his wife and this clown.

For all those who still want to try him out as their marital counselor.

He is also known as the former lead advisor at Empower Health Care. Currently, he is in the limelight because his name linked in a controversy with Julianna Zobrist.

Byron Yawn was born on March 4, 1970. He was born in Nashville in the United States of America. Byron as a student attended a local high school. After his high school graduation, he enrolled and moved to Mississippi College where he graduated and majored in History and English.

Byron Yawn Career

Byron is a CEO at the Mc Gowan and Associates. He has previously worked as a minister in a Church which he joined with his wife Robin in 2001. Byron helped the congregation prosper by delivering responsibility and care.

Beware English majors providing counseling, especially multiple CEO’s, lol.

Four Cub pitchers combined for a no-hitter last night, defeating Walker Buehler and the Dodgers 4-0 at Chavez Ravine. Far from a perfect game, all four Cubs pitchers walked at least one batter, with starter Zach Davies walking 5 in his 6 innings of work.

Alec Mills pitched the last Cubs no-hitter in Milwaukee last year. Perhaps this defeat will be the difference in home field advantage between the White Sox and Dodgers come October. The Cubs remain atop the NL Central with a 42-33 record.

Walker Buehler...a bit premature, the Dodgers also have lost 7 of last 8 against Padres and most importantly have to pass SFG or will be stuck in a sudden death wild card game with Darvish vs. Kershaw/Buehler.

Giants are the story of the early season...with Indians not too far behind.  Cubs or Astros/Rays/A’s also, with Twins biggest disappointment along with Yankees, Cards and Braves.

The Giants can hold on but not sure they will. Dodgers have a lot of depth, and as the only truly competitive team not worrying about "luxury tax" bullshit, the resources to pick up anything at the trade deadline. Their one major weakness currently is the depth of quality bullpen arms, so I expect plenty of action on that front.
