For tax purposes, he's signed in 2021 so there are issues with him playing stateside during signing year. Had he been able to sign in July, this wouldn't be an issue. It's not that big of a deal. There’s nothing stopping him from finishing in AA or AAA in 2022 IMO and being in big leagues after. Kopech will pitch the entire year at 25.
