Don’t worry about the Indians. They’ll go 9-11 and the Sox will go 12-6, and we’ll have a 6.5 game lead at the break.

Since this, Sox are 8-6; Indians 3-12. Both teams lost a game to rain, and the lead is 8 games.

Tigers are 31-23 the last 54. Luckily they started 9-24.

The Tigers aren't loaded with really good players, but the ones they have have remained remarkably healthy compared to the rest of the league.

Turnbull gettign hurt really impacted them.

Of all of the Central division teams they seem to be the one trending in the right direction along with the White Sox .

The Tigers might be winless against us if it wasn't for fucking Eric Haase. We really need to figure out how to pitch (or sometimes pitch around) that guy.

Reyes being back is a problem

Can’t go around Ramirez with Reyes behind now.  Hard to blame Matheny.

But Franmil’s the quintessential  streaky hitter.  Makes Carlos Lee look consistent.

It still comes down to Civale and Bieber.  They got back off the deck twice tonight with two outs in the bottom of both the 8th and 9th.

The other issue is a 10+ game division lead gives no incentive for Hahn to do anything.  Need to at least keep the Sox honest.

Detroit's Rogers just hit a go ahead grand slam off Minnesota's Rogers. Twins had a 3 run lead going into the 9th.

Lost the win for Berrios…just like the Sox did for Cease earlier.  Fantasy baseball wins for starters have been tough to come by this season, for the most part.

So we went 11-6 and the Indians went 6-12. We increased our lead by 5.5 games.

Indians now play a stretch of 12 games against the A's, Astros, Rays, and Cardinals. We get the Astros and Brewers with the Twins and Royals in there. Hopefully we can go at least 7-7 in that stretch and the Indians go 3-9. That'll put us 11 up on them as we go into the series against them right before the trade deadline at home.

So I wasn't too far off with how I thought we'd play. We went 6-8 instead of 7-7 and honestly we played like shit for every series but 1 so it almost feels like we were lucky to make it out of this stretch with 6 wins.

Cleveland went 5-7, a little better than I thought, but still pretty bad. We can put away this Cleveland team with a sweep. A series loss wouldn't be the end of the world, but getting swept would mean getting Cleveland back in the race right when our schedule gets tough in August.

The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced on Thursday that Seattle Mariners pitcher Héctor Santiago has received an 80-game suspension without pay after testing positive for exogenous Testosterone, a performance-enhancing substance in violation of Major League Baseball’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

The suspension of Santiago is effective immediately.

Rex Hudler - I'm the worst analyst in the AL Central.

Jack Morris - Hold my beer.

The Tigers have historically hired trashy broadcasters. Hope he gets shit canned, but “HOF players” get a lot of leeway in this world compared to others deemed more expendable.

AL Central

  1. Twins: 91-71 (61% odds to win division)
  2. Indians: 86-76 (25%)
  3. White Sox: 83-79 (13%)
  4. Royals: 71-91 (1%)
  5. Tigers: 67-95 (0%)

The AL Central looks like it will be there for the taking again in 2021, with another three-way race ramping up between the Twins, Indians and White Sox just like in '20. That trio all finished within a game of each other last year, so it's no surprise that only the AL Central has three teams with a 10% or higher chance of winning the division.

PECOTA likes the Twins to repeat as Central champs for a third straight year, with the Bomba Squad intact behind returning slugger Nelson Cruz and new shortstop Andrelton Simmons there to provide the glovework.

Do people actually pay to read the garbage that Baseball Prospectus churns out year after year?
