Robert is tough to watch at the plate, if he doesn't make contact early in the AB. You almost know how it will end, low and away, K.

He simply can’t take any fastball for a strike given how bad he looks on offspeed pitches.

This game thread sucks.

Even if Eloy was in LF and TA as SS, nobody is going to hit Ohtani when he is throwing like this.  No one.

As for Cease, Rome wasn't built in a day.  Neither was Naples or even Butte, Montana.  He's a work in progress.

Even if we get beat tonight, this is the kind of loss you can live with, when you just flat out get beat by a true ace.  The first 3 games of shit defense is another story, as is not scoring enough against mid-rotation-at-best SPs.

The team has a lot of talent and is still growing.  And they'll still get shut down by the top aces in the game.  That always happens, even to teams that end up winning 100+ games.  Relax.

Also re: the depth: so who is going to help the Sox out by giving them all these really good young players like an excellent SS behind TA?  Remember we actually had 2, Hahn traded both for Samardzija and the ghost of James Shields, and IIRC took Burdi with the pick from Samardzija.  He's also the same guy that gave DK 4 years guaranteed, for example, and I'm a lot more worried about that one that Cease here on April 4th in his first full 162 game season.

I know they're this way, but it's deserved when the Sox are kicking the ball around and/or getting shut out by the likes of Bruce Chen, but against Ohtani?  Seriously, we may never see better stuff against us all year.  Yes it's just game 4 of the season but still, this might be the best stuff we see all season.

Robert has already proven he's way too good for AAA. 223 PA's in Charlotte was enough. He needs to make adjustment against pitchers who can actually challenge him and that's only going to happen in MLB.

if Luis Robert is "only" a 3 WAR player we're kinda boned.

People need to realize guys like Robert and Madrigal are in their first full seasons. More likely next year is the do or die season. People expecting WS contention this year are simply thinking best case scenario only. Not realistic. No patience.

Have to go deeper in counts and get a couple of hits to chase him off and get in the pen . The righties have no chance the lefties are walking and getting on base . That simple . Our center fielder is great defensively and will need to learn to adapt to pitching. Cease is actually pitching well . A couple of mistakes but he is 4 he is pitching good. It’s the offense failing and so many injuries are really hampering this team.
