I really hope Billy Hamilton isn't in the starting lineup again.

He was the best hitter in yesterdays ballgame...but yeah if he is in the stating lineup, and likely Garcia starting at ss for TA, you dont have any pinch runner options off the bench.

TLR has already said Vaughn and Yemin are playing the next two days.  So I would assume that means Vaughn is in LF next two days unless Yermin is catching one of those days.

Lamb should be in one of the games. TLR likes to keep the backups invovled so they don't get too rusty just sitting.

My guess would be he's at DH on Wednesday when Collins is likely catching.

Sox have not produced  much offense in the 3 L's so that will likely impact how TLaR makes his line-up. Yermin is hot so he will stay with him as DH . Perhaps Vaughn in LF with Hamilton as a late inning replacement. The loss of Eloy took part f the heart and soul out of this line-up.

Luis Robert needs to take  every pitch that is middle out. He needs to hunt pitches that he can hit and just give the pitchers the outer half.

You don't think if Robert could do that, he would? He should also stop swinging at sliders low and outside in the dirt... I just don't think it's in his mindset. Sometimes, it looks as if he's up there to swing 3 times, and it doesn't matter what pitch comes in, he's going to swing. It's kind of weird, and frustrating!

Here is what I want to see for tonight's lineup

2B Madrigal

RF Eaton

1B Abreu

C Grandal

3B Moncada

DH Mercedes

CF Robert

LF Vaughn

SS Leury

Madrigal is already choking in a consistent basis while batting lower in the order... Do we really want him leading off?

Lmao.  Madrigal is one of our best hitters and hands down should be leadoff without TA in the lineup or in the 2 hole with TA in there.   He hasn't choked at all and certainly not when compared to every other hitter on the roster.  Should Abreu bat 9th bc he choked bad all season so far lol.

Madrigal consistently provides the best AB's, works the count, and will hit for elite average (imo he will our hit TA if TA starts going for more power).   Imo Madrigal should 1000% be in the 2 hole but with TA out he is the only person who is even remotely capable of hitting 1 or 2.

Moncada and Grandal could certainly hit in the 2 spot.

No, on so many levels.

https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/nick-madrigal-663611?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb

  • xwOB: 62% of MLB hitters are better.
  • Exit Velocity: 82% of MLB hitters are better.
  • HardHit%: 90% of MLB hitters are better.
  • Outs Above Avg:  95% of MLB hitters are better.

Call up his 2020 spray chart. Nick Trubisky has has one ball beyond 300 feet, he will continue to be squeezed and prove to be as worthless hitting as he is fielding or baserunning.

Those stats mean nothing.  And I literally mean nothing.

Exit velocity means literally nothing for an elite "hitter".   If you are going for homeruns, sure.  If you are going for base hits then it means nothing.

Madrigal hit .340 last year (far superior to TA).  Exit velocity and hard hit % does not equate to batting average.  It can help but does not determine what a leadoff hitter is or should be.

So based on numbers you guys would bat the following 9th.  All had probably very similar "stat cast" metrics to Madrigal lmao.

Tony Gynn (sic)

Ichiro

Pete Rose

OPS: Gwynn .847; Rose .784;  Ichiro .757; Madrigal .745 (will likely be in the high .690s-low .700s once he gets a full season in and pitchers and more importantly OFers squeeze him since he can't hit a ball beyond 300 feet).

OPS +:   Gwynn 132; Ichiro 107; Rose 118; Madrigal 103 (71 this season, will finish under 100).

HR average per season: Gwynn 9; Ichiro 7; Rose 7; Madrigal 0

SB average (success rate) per season: Gwynn 21 (72%); Ichiro 31 (81%); Rose 9 (57%); Madrigal 10 (50%) it's a negative expectation each time Nick attempts to steal a base. Rose shouldn't have stolen bases either, but he has the power and speed to get many doubles / triples, unlike Nick Trubisky).

Those are not the stats I'm speaking of.

You specifically pointed to

Exit Velocity
HardHit%
