How bad was the base running mistake by Abreu?   Unavoidable or not?   Almost felt like expected punishment from the baseball gods.

It wasn't a mistake at all, honestly. Robert hit a rope to SS, Abreu was off second as he should be, just unfortunate.

I watched Dusty Baker bring his closer into the 8th inning of a tie game vs the Angels yesterday. He's 71. It's not like older managers can't adapt, but what reason is there to believe that TLR is willing to do so?

Houston has a competent analytics department that can keep older guys like Dusty in check. It's pretty clear TLR is the analytics department at this point.

This team currently is not a World Series caliber. Things can change, but they needed everything to go right this year and everyone play at their peak potential. They didn’t account for injuries, lack of depth, nor regression.

It is year 5 of the rebuild. This team should be a juggernaut that is ready to take the American League by the Balls. The Northsiders did it to the NL 5 years back. The Sox can do it too.

Bring in Bummer when there are 2 runners on and tying run at the plate. Or when Trout, Rendon, and Upton are coming up.

Bring in Foster in the 7th with the bases empty and Heuer or someone warming as backup.

Not hard.

And your positive that the 3 hits that Foster gave wouldn't have lead to more?

I disagree that struggling pitchers are as easily handled as you say. Using only 2 pitchers in high leverage situations every game is going to wear them out very quickly.

That’s the one thing that’s embarrassing about all of this. They have the players and the talent to do it but it appears that’s not happening as of right now.

On paper before the season they looked solid af. But obviously that’s why you play out the season.
