It was about our not being sure that Vaughn was going to be THAT generational (Pujols-esque) hitter at first base good.

Not Abreu.

Otherwise, Vaughn extension isn’t the biggest issue in the world.

No, you said top 5 first basemen who play shoddy defense aren't priority. So you're saying only Pujols-esque 1B's should be priority? That's odd, again, considering the Sox best player is a 1B who isn't close to as good as Pujols was in his prime

LaRussa's obsession with starting bench players is going to drive us insane.

And we thought Ozzie’s infamous Sunday lineups when positioned for a sweep were bad...but it definitely paid off for playoff caliber teams.  Whether we are there or mot remains to be seen.

But it’s still idiotic to draft a 1B who’s the best hitter in college baseball then sit him for a AAAA journeyman who’s not close to part of the future of this franchise.  Just because a terrible pitcher who happens to be RH is on the mound.

Meaning a RHP vs. LHB, lol...can’t wait for this platoon.

Next act, we will all be jumping on Williams’ poor defense as well.

He didn't have enough innings to qualify, but in 2018 he was still the 2nd worst defensive outfielder in baseball (behind Bryce Harper, who they moved to CF a bunch that year) according to Fangraphs.

Williams defense is poor in center, in LF he is about average (uzr for his career +0.6 in left and -11.9 in center)

Still, LaRussa is acting like 2015 Yordano Ventura is the opposing pitcher...I mean, c’mon.

Also, unfortunate we just missed LHP Marco Gonzalez in Seattle...Minnesota is beating him up now, instead.

Back in the 1980s, before La Russa was shit canned, he was booed at home regularly. Our entire section and much of the stadium booed him every time he stepped foot out of the dugout, up 10-1, still booed.

He finished with a .506 winning percentage here. His “HOF Career” began once he had access to credible ownership, the top GMs in the game, and tens of thousands of steroids filled syringes and other PEDs. He still pissed away two of the three Oakland World Series.

What the hell is with the "legitimate spot" comment? Damn this guy is a mess

Is a LF  with some power against a RH pitcher not a legitimate spot for 1 game with the Sox struggling against RH pitching and in his 1 start against the Rangers he gave up 5 hits and 2 walks against LHH in 8 PA 's ? Maybe you are the mess ?

In 290 career games Nick Williams is exactly replacement level. Not giving Vaughn an every day job to see if he'll sink or swim is ridiculous. Players the caliber of Nick Williams will always be available when you need them.

Yeah, I'm the mess because this drunken bastard 1) doesn't know they are off tomorrow and 2) they are playing their 7th best OF in a year they wanted to "win a championship" because their alleged stud who they drafted #3 overall has already been determined to stink against RHP's

Get lost

It's one game dude and Keller got killed against lefties in his 1st game. Your concern was about a legitimate spot and it is a legitimate spot for 1 game. Not my fault you can't admit it.

No, I said giving extensions to young 1B who don’t project to be top 3-5 (let’s try 2019 Pete Alonso instead) 1B in the majors offensively and are average to below average defenders shouldn’t be prioritized in early extensions.

Now if he’s something like 8-12, then you’re going to have interesting arguments both ways.

Mariners already getting criticized with their deal for 1B White, who might be 18-22ish if he’s lucky.

Yeah, funny how the walking beer can hates shifting but is already playing matchups because of Brad Keller. Nick Williams is definitely a legitimate start today because even though he's complete garbage Keller had a rough 1st start vs LHH's. They're playing a horrific player today because of which side of the plate he stands on.

Good call

LaRussa also said he wants to get everyone in a game this week. After breaking camp with a few days off, it makes sense everyone gets into a game especially w it being a legit spot.   Role players like Vaughn and Collins need to produce so it is hard to get them out of the lineup, regardless of who the opposing pitcher is.
