Can confirm. I live in the far SW burbs and 1000 is super rough, only can get decent reception on a clear night. 670 comes in perfect all the time. So Cubs' fans aren't really without the broadcasts, and there's another Cubs' affiliate station in Illinois...maybe Peoria or Geneseo. Listening to the White Sox on 670 WMAQ back in the 80's and 90's was the best. Also had KMOX, Buck and Shannon, for the Cardinals to listen to at night. chitownsportsfan
670 on a good night comes in clearly in N. MI, truly magical to my 10 year old self.

The best pairing was Wayne Hagin (went on to the Mets) and John Rooney...
longshot7
Still not sure why anyone would waste their time on radio stations that barely come in when you can just listen on the MLB app clear as day....

Not everyone has an aux port or bluetooth capability in their vehicles to connect their phones to.

They got rid of Wayne Hagin because they thought he and Rooney sounded too much alike. And when you think about it , it shows how delicate a broadcasting career is. He sounds just like John Rooney, yet he goes on and has a nomadic , journeyman type of career, where Rooney picks his job, and may win a Frick award. But yeah, Rooney is always going to associated with the Cardinals now, like the Bucks, McCarver and Mike Shannon.
