I feel like we said this in 2003, 2006, 2008 (before Quentin went down), 2010, 2012, 2016...

We've got a long ways to go, we swept the Rangers, but the Twins and Indians are just too proud to lie down and die like many are assuming.

No I don't think we said any of this, then.  Especially you, you definitely never said anything like ""it's hard not to like the WS to emerge from the AL just based on pitching alone" in 2003, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2016.  I am very confident you never said this.

So the Indians need to be taken seriously, but “beating up on them” doesn’t count?

Mets Padres and Braves are not better than the White Sox

No but they are like the 4th, 5th strongest NL teams while the sox might be the second best team, the NL is just a lot tougher than the AL which doesn't have any real super teams.

Not the sox problem though, nobody asks you how you got to the WS if you do plus if they get there their pitching staff might be more fresh than those NL teams which beat up on each other.

The dodgers are clearly the best team in baseball but maybe even their pitching can get worn out if they are in a long series.

The sox aren't a flawless team but the AL is wide open and the Sox could very well finish with the best record.

Fans need to stop putting the cart before the horse.  It seems many are already dismissing the Twins when many of their losses have been just as fluky or even more inexplicable than ours.

When we go 12-7 or 13-6 against them consupistently, then we will have turned a corner.    The point is that we SHOULD be expected to beat a team with a sub $50 million payroll.

It's funny how you crucify the Sox for these type of losses but excuse them for the opponents.  Always.

Nobody is anointing anyone.  The White Sox are as talented as any team that is not the LA Dodgers.

The White Sox may end up 80-82 on the season because it is baseball and an injury or two can derail the whole thing.

The team as it is built should win more games than it loses.

The Pirates actually aren't that bad despite dealing Bell, Musgrove and Taillon.  And KeBryan Hayes (Charlie's son) was supposed to be one of their best players entering the season, but hasn't played yet due to injury.

So Pittsburgh will give a lot of teams problems.  Partially just because almost every team is underestimating them.

That said, beating up on the Tigers and an Indians' team hitting barely above the Mendoza Line doesn't re-transform us suddenly into World Series favorites or anything like that.

However, the Kopech outings have been quite impressive, and he'll likely be 96-99 instead of 95-97, touching 98, as the weather warms up and he keeps going out there and pitching every 4-5 days with higher and higher pitch counts.

The Pirates are absolutely horrible, they'll be lucky to win 70 games.

Gee, nobody did this at all during the Anaheim series.

If some posters just want to unrealistically act like the Twins are dead and buried, more power to you.

It’s going to be a long, long season compared to the epic sprint last year.

It’s also not like 2/3rd’s of the board wasn’t discouraged by Madrigal...now suddenly everyone’s back in his corner when he’s outperforming expectations.

So yeah, it’s human nature to be harder on and expect more out of your own team...just like as a coach I’m more critical of my son versus other parents’ kids.  And sometimes one can lose the forest for the trees and be less objective due to the emotionally-charged vs. dispassionate arguments, especially about Madrigal’s height/lack of power.  They almost come across as personal.

No one said the Twins are dead but, as a Sox fan, you gotta be feeling pretty good that you’re already up 4.5 games on your toughest division rival this season. If the situation was reversed and the Sox were 7-13, 4.5 games back of the Twins, would you be calling the Sox dead and buried?

The Twins' shit start has totally hurt them @caulfield12 They were roughly even with the Sox to win the division prior to the season now FG has them at 18% to win division and Sox at 56%.  In fact, they were at 48% on Fangraphs preaseason with Sox at 32% to win the Central.

Turns out being six games under after you've played 20 matters, go figure.

The Twins aren't dead but they need to go 83-59 to win 90 games. It's a brutal start.

Twins don't have the pitching for that kind of winning percentage IMO.  I am more worried by Cleveland and not very worried at that.  We are not playing our best yet and when that happens...lookout.  As always...injuries are what scare me.

Sox situation looking really good, after starting 6-8 (which interestingly still improved their playoff odds due to twins terrible start) they went 7-3 their last 10 and are now on pace for 93 wins (pre season projected for about 88 wins).

Playoff odds are now up to 70% and 59% to win division.

Surprising part was really the back of the rotation where there looked to be a big drop off after gio, Lynn and keuchel but despite gio and keuchel even being a bit weaker than expected rodon and cease stepped up and kopech is looking really good too.

Ever since he came back and during spring training the first time he tweaked it.

If they do move him to CF for Pham (Abrams to SS), he will be just fine.  Probably will win a Gold Glove one year due to outfield assists.

Fans need to stop putting the horse before the cart, but the man who has never played the outfield will be a gold glove center fielder.

Gold Gloves are based on reputation, highlights, offense (ironic, see Jeter)...if you can throw 92-98 mph with a full running start in the outfield, no doubt there would be a year when someone like Eaton or even Avi Garcia could make a run at an award like that.  Look at Joey Gallo 2020 vs. 2021, etc.

However, if you can play SS, you can certainly play any position on the field, except catcher.

And there had/have been conversations for years now about Tim Anderson being a great candidate for CF before Robert came along...especially when he commits a flurry of errors over a short stretch.
