The Soxtalk banner curse is a real thing.. and has been for years. I've cringed every time our better players are up there (cept that one season where I think it was @Kalapse who put our worst players up there  )

We need a Leury & Hamilton banner...quick.

It's just an extremely easy way to troll. You click one button, and some people get upset by it. Posting about it will just make them do it more. Better off just ignoring it.

I love how the attitude has shifted to instead of shaming the people who troll, let's blame the people who confront them. It's stupid. No. Trolling is childish and ridiculous and people that do it should be called out for it. If you present yourself as a troll, then no one should take you seriously because you clearly haven't grown up. This emoji stuff is dumb and just promotes that liquid courage trolling nonsense. Let us see who is posting that reaction and see if they do it as much. Or just eliminate it altogether because really, it's just pointless.

Weird to see so much trolling and degenerate behavior on a forum that hates Trump so much.

Great news as I hoped. If we want to go far in the playoffs we need Robert. Plus if Eloy comes back and we still have Vaughn in the OF, Robert can make up for those other two in the outfield based on how much ground Robert covers.

Well that's certainly good news.  I hope it works out that way.  Robert is a joy to watch tracking down balls in CF, and I'd absolutely hate it if this injury causes him to lose a step (or more).

That's awesome. The grade 3 diagnosis must be a 2/3 borderline case, if they feel he can return this year.

One of my closest friends is a physical therapist at ATI and said unless Robert's injury was catastrophic and our medical team sucks, he would make a full recovery. That is why I posted I was confident in his full recovery. He also said it was a person to person process in terms of heal time.

That's the issue. If its catastrophic. It looked bad and they came out with the grade 3 diagnosis. He should recovery fully but this is one injury that has the possibility of being career changer for a guy who speed is a major part of his game. Until there is more info, it is a concern.

Thought I'd throw this in here too:

Quote

CINCINNATI — Luis Robert’s torn hip flexor will take three to four months, if not longer, for a full recovery, but it’s an injury that shouldn’t affect him after it heals properly.

“Without knowing the exact particulars [of the tear], more often than not he’s going to get back to playing at or near the same level,” said Brian Schulz, a sports-medicine specialist and orthopedic surgeon with the Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute and a team physician for the Angels.

It was puzzling to some that Robert could tear a muscle running a straight line to first base with no contact. Several factors may have played into it, Schulz said.

“These athletes are so long and so fit,” Schulz said, “and he’s going from 0 to 100 almost immediately and the forces that are going through at the time, if his muscles aren’t warmed up or maybe he was just a little tight that day from the workload he had the previous day, who knows? Those forces are so great that sometimes the muscle can’t provide the support that it needs to.”

@ptatc some PRP and stem cell treatment in store you think? Do the Sox use these kinds of treatments?

I recall him stating that earlier in the week as likely treatment. ?

If this is true, AND this team can stay close to the lead, I think I'd be reluctant to make a panic buy.

Of course, this would mean that Abreu and Grandal will have to up their games, and that the pitching staff will have to carry this team, and TLR will have to stop making moronic moves between now and Eloy's/Robert's returns. A tall 'ask,' but doable, IMO.

The important note there is "if it heals properly"  A full grade 3 or rupture won't necessarily heal properly. That's the catastrophic version discussed earlier.

So neither this doctor nor the other two mentioned in the other post know the particulars of Robert's injury and are just speaking in generalities.  So if it's a "catastrophic" tear it will effect his speed and therefore his career.  I'm hoping for the best but I'm still very concerned about his recovery.

I need to reread ptatc's posts but I'm not sure if him not getting surgery is good or bad

"Those options include surgical repair if in fact the tear has affected the tendon's attachment to the bone," Hahn said. "Or a rehabilitation process in which natural healing will take place if the tear is to the muscle, as opposed to the attachment.

"The timeline is the same, whether there is surgical intervention or rest and rehabilitation."

It's possible.  However it they aren't doing surgery than it's less likely. It must not be a bad grade 3 as it looked.
