Al Lopez Ghost (old)
In Friday's Daily Herald, one of their sports guys, Barry Rozner, said that after game 7 Kenny Lofton and Sammy Sosa had a dust-up perhaps over Sammelah's s***ty at bats when the game was on the line. The site is www.dailyherald. Shocking news.
The Critic
Lofton once again exposes himself for the me-first asswipe he's always been. Not saying he's wrong that Mr. July had s***ty atbats in that final game, but Lofton's only yapping because he had a RARE good postseason. He also blamed............you guessed it...........THE MEDIA for reminding everybody about The Curse and the 95 years and all that. YEP, that's why the sCrUBS choked - because of THE MEDIA! Shut THEEEEE f*** Up, Lofton. Please leave town so I don't have to see you in my newspaper anymore!

winninguglyin83
I hope the Cubs try to make it a whole season with K Lo next year we saw what he can do from April to September last season. If Patterson is healthy, Lofton will be lookin for work.

Chisoxfn
Lofton always comes off as a pretty cool guy to me, but thats just from what I see in the game. Like when the Cubs won the first round some fans ran past him on the field and they damn near ran into him. You see him jump back look and he just is laughing with this huge smile. As far as Sammy :fyou I honestly believe if the Cubs lose Sammy, then they will become world series champions next year. Well as long as they spend that 17 mill in the right areas. Sammy is DONE at least in the NL. He can beat you in the regular season cause pitchers make mistakes, but when people have full concentration (Such as the playoffs) you rarely make mistakes and you really pitch more so to matchups then ever before and in Sammy's case he's more free swinging then the past couple years and he can't hit the high stuff (thats in the strikezone). Loaiza21
Lofton has a good first 2 weeks of the season and then he gradually drops off the radar. I doubt he's going to be a full-time starter for one team in a season for the rest of his career. The guy should retire.

The Cubs are reportedly trying to convince Lofton to re-sign as a fourth OF for next season. Lofton's ego won't allow him to do that. whitesox247
The guy should retire. He'd still make a damn good pinch hitter/runner. I wouldnt mind having him back, but maybe thats just because I havent heard too many attitude problems about him.

Pastime
In the 1990's, when the Cubs clearly defined what "really sucks ass" means, Shammy was all their fans had to root for. Yeah, the Cubs gave up 8 runs per game, but Shammy would hit a 450-ft HR once in a while, so the lemmings went home happy. Corky was all they had to root for. But now, they actually have a TEAM to root for, and Shammy is the ultimate self-centered jag. His "me first," non-team-player garbage has grown old, worn, and tired. Not ONCE did you see him try to advance a runner in this year's playoffs. Not ONCE did you see him sacrifice a big swing or take a pitch just to try to get on base. Why should his self-serving, egotistical approach be any different this year than it was in previous years? I'm glad the Cubs are stuck with him for the next 2 years because his skills are going down faster than a $10 crack whore. He can't field, he can't throw, he can't run, and he can't catch up to any fastball above 90 mph. Watching his skills quickly eroding and fading is a thing of beauty and a joy to the eyes. It couldn't happen fast enough to a bigger asshole. Corky Sosa :dips***
SuperSteve
...I'm glad the Cubs are stuck with him for the next 2 years... Nice post. Isn't there some sort of clause in his contract which could make him an FA this offseason? I remember some talk about that in June or July. Something about him wanting to test free agency. Pastime
From what I've heard on Sportsradio in Chicago, Sammy has a 15-day window during which he can choose free agency. I don't know when that window opens and closes, but I believe it is relatively early such that Cubs will know for sure before free agency gets rolling. Late November? If he declares for free agency, he would be exactly that: a true free agent. Were he to declare, he would not have the right to test the market, find it lukewarm, and then return and demand the terms of the existing contract. Once free he'd be free. He can declare himself a free agent, but if he does, then he's completely free. He would then be at whoever's price. However, he can decide to stay for I think 17 million a year for two years (what a waste of money!), and he may be stupid enough to try to get a better deal, but his agent isn't. Either way, he will be with the Cubs next year. Aproximately 1/4 of their payroll being spent on a fading loser who won't even hit 28 HR next year. Awww - too bad. Hey Cubs fans, ENJOY!!! :fyou

Pastime
It is a small version of that. New Comiskey isn't all THAT bad - I sit in the CF bleachers when I go and occasionally hang out on the concourse. I miss the old place, but my wife loves the salads she gets at the new place. Damn health nut. Just give me a Kosher Dog and a Coke in the 1st and 6th innings, and give me a good game, and I go home happy. I would really go home happy if I could attend Game 7 of the ALCS next year, and watch us stomp the piss out of the A's.

Carlo Paz
Sammy deserved any s*** that he got after that at bat in the eigth inning. Down three they desperately need base runners. Sammy has a 2-0 count. Ball three sails in out of the strike zone. Sammy swings for the fences! Next pitch...same thing! What a dick.
