so.... they call this game early but didn't call Saturdays game early??

What's the logic?

Isn't tonight more clear than Saturday?

On Saturday Seattle was here for the last/only time this season and calling the game meant a DH the next day.

Minnesota is back in July and calling the game means they can push the DH to July when more players are back from the IL.

Divisional opponent vs non-divisional opponent that is halfway across the country. They'll do anything they can to fit those games in.

Is the home team solely in control of when the make-up is scheduled if a team returns later in the year.

IE - are we sure this was solely the Sox decision, and not one that they have to get OK'd by MN?

Good call by them. Play it when they are healthier, maybe with a reinforcement or 2, and playing better ball.

Is it really the Sox place to just PPD a playable game because they're banged up?  Like do they even have the authority to do that?

Yes, home team makes the decision before the game starts.   Once it starts, it's up to the umpires.

Agreed.

Regardless of whether Seattle was returning or not, cancelling Saturday in the morning was the responsible thing to do, or at least immediately after the flash flooding downtown, area tornados, and knowledge there would be rain and possible severe weather throughout the day. It should have been called early, to allow folks to stay home and not be at risk at the ballpark.

They could have played tonight. Scam.

Sunny and clear right now, but there is rain on the way.
