Yep this will fix everything!  :lolhitting

One error during the testing period of the automated strike zone? Shut it down. It's over. Go back to having Joe West and the human element deciding strike calls.

Exactly. It's textbook availability bias. I can't take anyone seriously who claims to watch baseball games (especially this year) and thinks home plate umpires are better than a system that, even if flawed, is likely accurate close to 99% of the time

Bump. Not only is an automated strike zone needed, but the MLB needs to limit the umpire's responsibilities as much as possible. Today we saw an amazing series end on a completely blown call. This isn't even a debate anymore. The technology is there.

Dump the ump.

I'm not going to defend any of those videos, because they just look terrible.  But people need to realize the strike zone is a 3-Dimensional space, it isn't an invisible wall that the ball has to pass through.  Even when the bugs are 100% completely ironed out, we will start to realize that some of the pitches we have thought for years were one thing, were actually the opposite.

We could always use more ways to ruin the game which already has a declining interest.  Taking the human element out of any sport is ridiculous. It seems like the MO of most Sox fans is complaining about the officiating.

So by your logic, get rid of challenges? That took the human element out of the game. The last play of the Dodgers-Giants series was marred by a blown strike call. That's what you want kept in the game?
