winninguglyin83
Kid just keeps hitting and hitting. Team USA has played seven exhibition games in the Arizona Fall league. Jeremy is 5 for 15 -- four singles and a double. Most impressive? Only one K and three walks. He's scored five runs and stolen a pair of bases without being thrown out. Only one RBI, but he hits high in the batting order, I believe. Bottom line: Rowand, Borchard and the other center field candidates better come to spring training ready to play because this kid could hit his way from Tucson to US Cellular. aboz56
Jumping on him is OK. burying him -- the way Cotts was treated -- is what is ridiculous Cotts's treatment was partly the fault of the Sox and JM. He wasn't ready for the show, let alone starting in Yankee Stadium. They should have learned from their past mistakes about young pitchers, but they didn't apparently. winninguglyin83
i'm talking about the way folks on this board jumped on him. THAT was ridiculous. He's one of our best pitching prospects. He needs to make some improvements to be a solid big-league starter. But it was silly the way folks on this board buried the guy in August. Chisoxrd5
I agree...it was a rip-fest after his first three starts...His numbers shouldve spoken for themselves and we all should have been prepared for his high walk totals!! But overall I think Neal has the makeup and stuff to be a QUALITY major league pitcher! So Go NEAL! and go Jeremy!!

I may have been guilty of that, but the walks were ridiculous. He wasn't even close some of the time. To me, that justified some of the criticism. He is talented and still young though, so some of it was not justified.
winninguglyin83
if teams dumped every young pitcher who came up and struggled, everybody would have a two-man staff. The Priors and Buehrles are the exceptions, not the rule.

The Priors and Buehrles are the exceptions, not the rule. That's true. Like I said, some of it was unjustified because you're putting a rookie in a tough spot. On the other hand, if you are a professional, you have to do your job. I've got no problem if someone gets rocked. But if they just walk everyone, I get rather irritated quickly. By walking everyone, you don't even give your defense a chance to save you.

He's not just a professional athlete but a person as well, we should be thankful that guys like Bullard, Bajenaru, and Cotts all post on these messageboards. Cotts will make all those people take their s*** back, I just know it. CWSOX45

If that's considered harsh criticism, shoot me now....
