Ah yes, Eloy listening to his bosses for an eight figure contract which he agreed to = slavery. For someone who loves handing out laugh reacts, you say some pretty laughable things.

Comparing slavery to being paid millions of dollars to play a game? And your quoting an article from January 2020. Since then he has had a serious injury and in his return a set back. The dude is brittle and is a liability in the OF to the team’s defense and his own health.

tray
Beyond the hyperbole, Eloy has consistently stated (as recently as this week) that he has no intention of being a permanent DH. That is his choice. What would the Sox option be to compel him to serve or to force him to serve as they require? Bench him? Threaten to trade him? OK, but they won't. Beyond being a star player he is part of the Cuban core of players -Pito, Yoan, Robert, that are too important to break up. A short while ago some here thought that Yermin should be free to disobey his Manager and do as he pleased without apology. Oh yes, that was new school. Well Eloy is new school as well. Unlike Yermin though, he is a legitimate star player that will ultimately play where he wants to.

Well, except for the fact he’s (Jimenez) not Cuban but Dominican…that said, he might be the first member of the core rebuild to be traded/dumped if he can’t play 140+ games with a 900ish OPS as a DH. Because if he’s just a mid to low 800s ops LFer with negative defense, that can be replaced.

He could force his way onto the field and refuse to move which would be kind or interesting or He could go on strike but that is unlikely. He will then refuse to sign a new contract with the team. In his last year he will become a rent a player then hopefully find a team that appreciates individual doing what is best for themselves instead of what is best for the team and winning. Then he will eventually have diarrhea at some point which is an inevitability and sense he’s out in left field, he’ll be forced to shit his pants. caulfield12
In the end, Jimenez can do whatever he wants if he puts up anything resembling Frank Thomas numbers offensively. If not…he better be more of a team player.
