Cubs are getting back Greg Deichmann + another player. Deichmann is the #9 prospect for the A's per Pipeline and BA. Should give everyone a decent idea for what an impact reliever is going to cost (although, Chafin does have an option at the end of the year).

Good left-handed relievers are little harder to come by and Chafin is dirt cheap which is probably super valuable to the A’s.  That being said, good relievers aren’t going to come super cheap it appears.

Deichmann is already 26

Cubs are getting a lot of guys with good raw power and patience. Both Ball and Deichmann have 70 grade raw power and good walk rates in the minors.

Fangraphs has Deichmann as the A's #8 prospect and Palencia as the #12 (both are 40+s).

Two 40+ guys for a non-closer is pretty steep

A's are a bottom tier farm system though. I'm not too concerned with what FG has them ranked for FG. Deichmann is no sure thing, and Palencia isn't even ranked by MLB or BA.

Given what it sounds like the stuff is (97-99), Palencia sounds like he's in a similar tier to the Kanny arms we've all been keeping an eye on this season. The cost for rentals has been higher than I was anticipating. If the Sox land Escobar/Schoop and a decent reliever it's going to be built around guys who all rank in the Sox top 5-10.

Given where the system is at, the Sox will notice the loss of multiple prospects in the 40+/40 range more than most orgs in baseball

40+ on fangraphs is 40+ on fangraphs. Deichmann definitely has some questions in his game, but he's in AAA so hes not a lottery ticket. The other guy is definitely a lottery ticket. He's 5'11 and throws 99 mph so well see how that goes.

MLB Pipeline is a joke though. Jose Rodriguez is the Sox #14 prospect and Blake Rutherford is #8. Fangraphs isn't gospel, but it's at least close to reality.
