White Sox/Rox talking Story

I hope they stay away from trevor story, not worth jake burger and company.  If we are looking for a rental player for this yr we need someone who is actually performing this yr.  Marcus Semien would be worth making that type of trade.

I'm torn ... me thinks the Sox knew they have a hole and absolutely know they have to fill it. It would seem very odd for them not to fill it. They were definitely in the conversations for Frazier and Escobar and both of those returns seems to be able to be matched ... as such ... it makes me think they have their sights on someone else. I just don't see them passing all together and saying they're okay with Garcia and Mendick.

I think that you'll see Burger, Lopez, and  _______  go back in any deal. Story i think makes a whole buncha sense, but we'll see.

Let’s just all agree to be very angry at 3:15 tomorrow if doing nothing is the end result?

I will be disappointed.  They need a healthy dependable bullpen piece.

I won't be angry although we are already hearing some excuses.  I mean people  here are like oh see the Story stuff pops up right after the Escobar trade to the Brewers as if something else is going on. But what did we hear about Sox being picky on the medicals? Oh didn't like Escobar's meds even though he hit for 124 wRC+ for the last month, yet Story after a HBP on his hand and his throwing speed is down and his hitting is down and we should believe there isn't something wrong with him ?

Then of course Eloy is back, Robert coming soon, Lynn gets 2 more years so everybody's happy right ?

It isn’t worth taking on Blackmon’s contract for half a season of Story.

Not the whole amount but what is it worth????  Watching the OF play and the anemic offense there needs to be some infusion.  Both guys can be change of scenery things.

For 2022 as well there is no RF option.  Sheets, Vaughn, etc are not options in RF

There is a large sunk cost in this move but that is what winning teams do.

Well he will say the same as last year.   Or he will use the line of Robert, Eloy, and Grandal as being our "acquisitions".

Unless they are getting a controlled GOOD player, it isn't worth it.  Blackmon's deal will stop them from making future moves.

Averaging 15 million over the next 2 isnt crazy if he continues to hit like he has the last 2 months. It is a risk though.

So why should the Sox take on another poor RF, that is paid like a star, and remove their ability to use that money towards actually filling that hole this offseason?  Taking on Charlie Blackmon in frankly any capacity would be an absolutely horrible use of resources for this organization.

If CO covers enough of his salary they can always release him.

This team has pissed away plenty of money on the likes of Wellington Castillo, Jon Jay, Machado's brother-in-law, etc.

I know nothing about what Charlie Blackmon is any longer but this is what teams with thin farm system's do.

I agree, and if the future is always top priority for making any moves then you will never win in the present.

I would think the Sox would take the salary in lieu of better prospects.
