knightni
Lefty hitting High School 3B - Sox give him extra money to keep him from college. "At the start of the summer showcase circuit, Kath was just another high school bat amongst many throughout the country. After swinging the bat consistently well at a number of events, from the Area Code Games to the World Wood Bat Association World Championship, he emerged as the top position player in Arizona and certainly didn't hurt his stock by absolutely raking during his senior season, earning Gatorade's state high school player of the year honors in the process. Kath became a bit of a sleeper favorite among scouts because of his abilities from the left side of the plate. He showed the ability to impact the baseball repeatedly at a number of events against very good competition. There have been times in the past where he's been more of a defensive hitter, but he attacked the ball more this summer and there's size and strength to hope for more power if he can continue to be aggressive at the plate. While Kath plays shortstop in high school, most see a move to third base at the next level. He has good hands and a plus arm, but he tends to need to set and throw to be accurate and will likely lack the range to play up the middle as he matures. He does have the chance to be an excellent third baseman, with some seeing the Arizona State recruit as a slightly more athletic version of Red Sox prospect Triston Casas, perhaps with a bit less power." knightni
Really young guy (19) who hit for power in Kanny, but was definitely not ready for the Birmingham call up. Could stand to raise his average and work on contact in Winston-Salem next season. Who knows. He could make the Sox some day.
