greg775
Tona Pena didn't have any experience, did he? he's a pretty good skipper. Bring on the Oz.
YASNY
Backman, Bell, Dent, Gaston, Guillen, Francona, Yount, Leyva .... these are the names I've heard mentioned or rumoured to be under consideration. There's also a bench coach from Baltimore who's name escapes me... Perlosso or something like that, I think. So that's 9 names right there. Hell, it could be anybody. We'll just have to wait and see what the organization decides to do. Either way, we'll have to live with whatever choice they make.

YASNY
I'd get fired the first week of spring training. Especially if we resigned Thomas, because I wouldn't coddle his superstar ass. If I wanted him batting 7th he'd bat 7th and like it. No way could I last long with a bunch egotistical athletes.

Rex Hudler
Sam Perlozzo is the coach from Baltimore I think? That is off the top of my head so I am not sure.
quickman
He's whiffed on some predictions, yes, but he's also got a pipeline as to what's going on. I'm not totally excited about anyone who's out there, I think they all have some holes in their resume, but to me, the best idea still seems to be a very experienced guy like Gaston as manager and see if they can lure Guillen in as 3rd base coach. If not, see if they can hire Guillen as manager of one of the farm teams, maybe there will be an opening ... Birmingham?? As much as Guillen has learned from guys like Bobby Cox, McKeon, etc. there's no substitute for actually being "da man". I don't know if Guillen would leave a Marlins team for anything less than a big league managers job. But I doubt any team other than the White Sox would be considering him. Jim, I agree, none of these are great picks to take us to the promise land. Cito Gaston is probably the most experienced out of all those but not a great crop. I really don't want Buddy Bell. He never proved anything to me as a player or a manager. I really wish there was a better crop of candidates. Ozzie doesn't excite me, he never did even as a player. I realize he was a white sox but he wasn't that great. Why are we always in dissarry? We need an org overhaul.
